Blogger shares SHOCKING picture of nerve damage from removing false nails at home
A beauty blogger has sharing shocking pictures of the nerve damage she caused by removing her false nails at home.
Amelia Perrin took to social media to warn others of the dangers of removing acrylic nails herself over the years.
The 20 year old blogger from Essex warned followers that over six years of the practice had left her with exposed nerves, and unable to take a hot shower due to the pain.
Sharing a graphic picture of her raw and bleeding nails on Twitter, the freelance make-up artist wrote:
“Alot of people on [Q&A site] curiouscat ask me about my acrylics, presumably wanting a set themselves. Sharing these to show u the reality lol.”
“Nearly cried in the shower at the hot water touching my nail beds and I’m pretty sure there’s still loads of shampoo left in my hair. Don’t even care how they look it’s the physical PAIN dear lord.”

And while she admitted her nails were an extreme worst cause scenario which she put down to “six years of damage”.
She shockingly revealed she would continue to have her acrylics applied over the damaged, dubbing herself, “the girl who never learns”
Acrylic nails are extremely popular but can cause problems if they are removed incorrectly.
However that has not put Amelia off and she told the Daily Mail:
“Acrylics make me feel more out together so I always like to have them done. I prefer the look of long fake nails than real ones as they chip easier and sometimes look dirty and bendy. I get them done professionally and usually get them removed professionally but I didn’t have time and one nail had come off and i didn’t want to have nine nails on so I started peeling and snapping them off, I then soaked the remains off in acetone.”
She added that after sharing the shocking image she had her nails done again five days later, saying:
“I filed off all the remains, put my fingers in plasters (as the nerves were exposed showering, washing up etc really hurts) and took biotin pills for the interim. I know they’ll remain damaged but to be honest at this point I’m pretty sure I’m too far gone to return to 100 per cent healthy nails they don’t grow the same anymore even if I take my acrylics off. I knew what I was expecting as I’d done it before and couldn’t even zip my jeans up as my exposed nails hurt so bad. Getting them done again stops them hurting.”
