Boyzlife Forced To Cancel Their Two Irish Gigs After Sell Out UK Tour

Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden

This week’s Boyzlife shows at the University Concert Hall Limerick and the Cork Opera were regretfully cancelled after Keith Duffy was diagnosed with laryngitis.

Speaking to exclusively to RSVP, the singer and actor said

“We pulled the gigs in Ireland because I have laryngitis, they were to take place on Thursday and Friday, and then we are playing Denmark on Saturday so it is pull everything or pull them and see how I feel on Friday.

“Our biggest show was in London on Saturday, there was a lot of heavy noise there, and production companies who are interested in myself and Brian doing a TV show, so ITV and Syco TV were all there. It is an autobiographical show, so music and talk, we have the banter and slag each other, it is great show but we had 1,600 at that gig and we are eight weeks on the road so I lost my voice on Sunday night.

“I was screaming Sunday and Monday and Brian covered me a lot and I got fans to cover me but there was no way I could do this week. I am not going to bring this show, which is a fantastic show, that I am very proud of and has gotten great reviews in the UK, to Ireland when you only have to look crooked and you get slagged off. I want to put on the best show I can here. I need a few days off to get it better. I never did that much singing in Boyzone so that is why.”

Speaking about Boyzlife’s success in the UK, Keith said it is hard not to notice the begrudgery in Ireland

“In Ireland you don’t make it until you have made it somewhere else and then they go- ‘okay you have made it’. It is like when Boyzone started out, we were hated, but when we won all the awards and got to number one in the UK, we were welcomed back with open arms. Both myself and Brian are from Dublin, we sold out 40k in four hours in the UK and it took us six months to sell 700 tickets in Dublin.”

Keith with his mum Patricia

Keith was speaking at Dolmio’s mealtime memory launch and was accompanied by his mother Patricia, who said Keith has the best table manners of anyone she knows. Speaking about dinner time in the Duffy household, Patricia said

“I has three sons so there was always banter around the table, it was enjoyable. There were rules but not that it did much good. We would have set dinners on the certain days as I did a weekly shop. I like when Keith did the dishes because he cleaned the kitchen better than any of them.”

If you ask me to many Irish shows where put on and it was down to poor tickets sales why it was scrapped.
I’ll never be going to one of there shows again after 20 years of being a fan of Brian I’m finished as it’s constantly happening.
They treat there Irish fans appalling I find it very funny that every time
an Irish show is planned it will always be cancelled as one of them as some sort of “vocal illness” but it has nothing to do with the benders on tour or the drinking when there actually working on stage.
Keith seemed fine on Tuesday morning laughing and joking on GMB a laryngitis that disappears and appears when suits must be very handy to have all the same.
We don’t even get an apology for cancellations or hardly any notice one time I was attending a show in Belfast and we got the grand total of 30 minutes notice Brian claimed to have this mysterious “vocal illness” but remember it had nothing to do with the fact he was seen drinking in Dublin with Nicky Byrne the night before.
It is a disgusting way to treat there Irish and most loyal fans.
I hope they always have the UK to fall back on as Ireland doesn’t want two bitter and twisted individuals performing in our country.
I suggest they both move to England permanently and get there citizenship’s so they can once and for all be free from a big scary Ireland.
