As regular readers will know, Emer O’Hea, senior producer at Cork 96 FM, has been writing a fabulous weekly blog for us describing the exciting, hectic and often bewildering process of organising a wedding abroad when you are based in Ireland (see Adventures of An Irish Bride Abroad).
All of the stress and fun of putting such a major logistical feat together was worth it, when the stunning Emer married her handsome fiancé Alberto Martin in the beautiful Spanish village of Frigiliana, seven miles from Nerja.
Emer looked radiantly beautiful as she walked down the aisle of the church San Antonia de Padua, with her sisters Chris and Carol as bridemaids, to exchange her vows with Alberto before their families and friends, many of whom had flown over from Ireland.
There were even guests present from England, Scotland and China. And of course, many of her friends from work were present, including her morning show colleagues Neil Prendeville and Colm Moore.
Wanting to channel the Spanish in her, Emer wore a gorgeous Pronovias dress by Manuel Mota and a lace-edged veil, and we’re sure you’ll agree she looked utterly amazing.
The celebrations then moved to the gorgeous Cortijo Bravo, where the guests enjoyed a drinks and canapés reception in the courtyard on arrival and were serenaded with Spanish guitars. As the venue was up a mountain, guests were stunned by the breathtaking panoramic views of the Costa del Sol below.
The reception took place in a stunning marquee, where the exquisite meal included Spanish favourites like seafood paella.
Another Spanish tradition (that RSVP quite likes) is that all the women at weddings are given a pin to wear upside down on their dresses. If the pin falls off a single woman during dancing, it means that she will marry soon. Alberto’s mum gave the pins to all the female guests present, so we’re sure Emer will keep us posted as to how that worked out for her friends!
As you will know from her blogs, Emer and Alberto put a lot of thought into making their wedding beautiful and meaningful, and from all accounts they certainly achieved that. We at RSVP wish them both every happiness in their married life together, and hope that all their dreams come true.
