“As you know, I’ve been there and have total empathy with the beautiful lady who does a beautiful job. Surely she’s allowed to have a moment alone to be with her husband.”
The Duchess of York spoke out after the pictures of Kate were published in the French Closer magazine (see article here). Then again, she knows what it’s like as twenty years ago, at another private villa in the south of France, Fergie was photographed having her toes sucked by her Texan financial adviser, John Bryan, while lying topless on a sun-lounger. Which more or less brought her marriage to Prince Andrew to an end when they were published, as one might expect!
A year after the pics were taken, the French magazine Paris Match and a photographer were ordered to pay her and Bryan £84,000 (€105,000)for taking the poolside photographs of them without their permission.
After the images were first published earlier this month, Fergie was quick to rush to Kate’s defence, calling the incident “devastating” for her and Prince William.
She said:
“I have total empathy and sympathy for her. I have been there and know what it’s like. Everyone is entitled to privacy. It is a devastating invasion of one’s personal inner space. It is deplorable, abhorrent and despicable. She is a beautiful young woman doing a great job for the country. Why should she be stripped of that moment with her husband?”
All we can say in RSVP is that with all the bits of them that we’ve seen published in recent weeks, the next family event at Buckingham Palace should be great fun altogether.
Hardly the same thing Sarah….Kate was with her husband not being unfaithful! Of course Kate has her right to privacy with her husband on a private holiday.
