Kym Marsh pays heartbreaking tribute to her stillborn baby Archie on 8th birthday
Kym Marsh has paid a tribute to her stillborn baby Archie in heartbreaking post, following her tragic Coronation Street storyline.
The devastating scenes saw Michelle Connor and Steve McDonald, played by Simon Gregson, tragically lose their son at 23 weeks into her pregnancy.
The story was very close to home for Kym, who herself lost her baby boy Archie in similar circumstances eight years ago.
But now, Kym herself has taken to Twitter to celebrate the life of her lost baby on what would have been his eighth birthday.
Writing to her 716k followers, the singer wrote: “This day 8 yrs ago my baby boy got his angel wings. Happy birthday my beautiful Archie. We love you very much and we miss you every day.”
She then posted a picture of a poem, with heartbreaking lines such as: “Don’t let them say I wasn’t born, that something stopped my heart.
“I felt each tender squeeze you gave, I’ve loved you from the start.”
In honour of Archie, Kym also announced that in February 2018 she would be teaming up with baby loss charity Saying Goodbye UK, to next year host a “Archie Mariposa Ball” in honour of her son.”
The soap actress is currently campaigning to change the law for stillborns, that would allow for them to receive a birth certificate.
The current law states that parents can’t be issued with a birth certificate if the stillborn child arrives before 24 weeks.
Speaking to The Sun, she confessed this was the case for her own son, Archie.
The 40 year old said: “We hope this story will open up the debate.
“It would be great if it led to a change in the law. The fact I didn’t get a birth certificate for Archie means that when I’m gone there’s no record of him.
“He won’t be on our family tree and yet I gave birth to him.”
She continued: “We celebrate his birthday every year and let off balloons. My daughter Polly knows she had a brother, yet there is no record of his birth.”
You’re in our tonight today Kym……
