When you’re in a relationship, or even just chatting with mates, it’s often a topic comes up.

“What’s your number?” “How many people have you bedded?”

While some people will have slept with many more than the average, and others with many less, the average number of sex partners the average person has, has been revealed.

Chapman University in California, conducted a study of more than 60,000 heterosexual men and women. While their study looked at many different factors, they also revealed the average number of sexual partners a person has.

Regardless of gender, most people had had over five partners, 58% of men and 56% of women had over 5 partners.

People with partners over 14 were much fewer, with the percentage dropping to 29% of men and 23% of women.

A Durex Global Sex Survey, which was conducted in 2005, revealed that the average number of sexual partners in Ireland was 11.1 however, according to the Irish Examiner.

The survey also revealed that the country where people had the highest number of sexual partners on average was Turkey , at 14.5. The lowest number was in India where the average was 3 partners. The global average was found to be 9.

So it looks like the number of sexual partners on average has decreased.

So where do you lie? Are you shocked by the results?
