Rihanna Suing Topshop for $5 million Rihanna is reportedly suing fashion outlet Topshop for $5 million (€3.8 million). The singer is taking action against the high street store after they started selling T-shirts with her likeness on them without her consent. Rihanna has hired international law firm Reed Smith to file the case against the fashion giants in London after her own legal team failed to come to a deal with the owners of Topshop, Arcadia, after eight months of negotiations. A source told the New York Post “Rihanna’s management asked Topshop a number of times to stop selling her image and were told, ‘We do what we want’. They buy the pictures from a photographer, but they do not pay the artist licensing fees. Unfortunately, UK law does not protect the artist. What is most offensive for Rihanna is that they basically told her, ‘Go to hell. We don’t care. We are going to continue selling you’. Topshop is now in the United States.” Rihanna has allegedly already spent $1 million (€770,178) pursuing the case and is said to be doing it on principle rather than for any financial gain. The source said “Even though the UK laws don’t protect the artist, she has decided to move forward and sue Topshop. She has spent almost $1 million in litigation at this point. She says it’s the principle, and wants to make a statement about it. They are taking advantage of artists. It is just exploitation. What they are doing is wrong.” An insider at Topshop has spoken out about the case, defending their stance as the T-shirts came from a third-party supplier. They said “This issue is related to a T-shirt provided to Topshop by a third-party supplier. We are aware it is the subject of litigation. The amount of damages sought has not been articulated anywhere in the claimant’s document.” Rihanna launched her new summer range with RiverIsland in February. The collection also features items bearing her face.
Gunshots Fired During Christoph Waltz Interview at Cannes Two time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz was caught up in the middle of a gun scare at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday (17th May). The actor was being interviewed on Canal Plus’ Le Grand Journal when a crazed audience fired two shots and threatened to blow up the studio with a hand grenade. A recording of the incident shows the audience running away in panic as Christoph and fellow actor Daniel Auteuil are rushed off stage by security guards. Fortunately the shots fired by the man were blanks and the grenade with which he threatened to blow up the studio was a fake. He was arrested at the scene after being tackled by security. Christoph, who won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor for Quentin Tarantino films Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained, told The Daily Mail about the ordeal. He said “I was on a panel at the StudioCanal platform off the beach when a man produced a gun. I think it was a pistol and he fired but luckily for me they were blanks. Then he shouted he had a grenade and again luckily for me there was no grenade. The police have him. They tackled him to the ground. I don’t know who he was or where he came from or what his problem was.” An eyewitness told of how security managed to deal with the gunman. Arthur Laiguesse stated “The bodyguards jumped over the barriers into the crowd and pulled him to the ground. The police arrived and told everyone to run because there was a grenade in his hand.” Later, speaking to France 24, Michel Denisot, presenter of Le Grand Journal, said “He said to a woman next to him ‘if I were you, I wouldn’t stick around here’. There were no bullets in the gun and the grenade was a fake.” This is the second major criminal incident to take place at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The day before over €1 million worth of Chopard jewellery, which was intended to be worn by stars attending the festival, was stolen from Suite Novotel hotel.
Beyoncé Expecting Her Second Child! The rumours have been doing the rounds for a while now but now it has reportedly been confirmed that Beyoncé is expecting her second child with rapper Jay-Z! According to E! Online multiple sources have confirmed that the ‘Love On Top’ singer is pregnant yesterday (17th May), while another confirmed the good news with Hollywoodlife.com. Rumours about her pregnancy have been awash throughout the media for the past few weeks as she appeared to have a baby bump at this year’s Met Ball and at her concert in London, part of her current ‘The Mrs Carter Show World Tour’. The speculation escalated after she cancelled a gig in Belgium earlier this week, blaming dehydration and exhaustion. In February Beyoncé told Oprah Winfrey that she “definitely” wanted another child, saying “I think my daughter needs some company.” However, she went on to say that she and Jay Z would wait until “after this next tour.” Beyoncé and Jay Z have yet to make any comments on the matter. Meanwhile, some American celebs have come out on Twitter to congratulate the singer. TV presenter and executive, Andy Cohen tweeted “hey @beyonce —- MAZEL on your #FierceFetus!” Russell Simmons, founder of hip-hop label Def Jam, wrote “Congratulations Jay-Z & Beyonce…” While DJ and hip-hop artist Funk Flex also congratulated the couple, tweeting “Congratulations Jay & Bey: Beyonce’s Pregnancy Has Been Confirmed!”
Potential Suspects Identified In Madeleine McCann Case It’s been more than six years after three-year-old Madeleine McCann was abducted from the Portugal holiday apartment she shared with her family, but a recent break in the case provides hope that the little girl may yet be found. In the ongoing enquiry into Madeleine’s disappearance, British police have identified a list of possible suspects who may be responsible for the abduction of the child and have urged authorities in Portugal to be immediate in their investigation of these suspects. Speaking to the Evening Standard, Detective Chief Superintendent Hamish Campbell of Scotland Yard said “There are a lot of people of interest. There are people who could be properly explored further, if only to be eliminated.” He also added that “on many occasions, we find we passed the suspects by already and the suspect sits within our system.” Admitting that the British police would need the help of their Portuguese counterparts, Detective Campbell encouraged further hope for Madeleine’s parents, saying “The Portuguese hopefully will pursue some of these investigative opportunities with our assistance. There is room for further work and collaboration to resolve the case.”

Website Poll Finds Irish Men To Be Third Ugliest In The World! Despite boasting the likes of Colin Farrell, Michael Fassbender, Tommy Bowe and that fine 60-year-old specimen Pierce Brosnan among our male population, dating website BeautifulPeople.com have found Irish men to be some of the ugliest in the world, according to a recent survey they backed. These outrageous claims were brought to our attention after the website, which (as the name suggests) deals only with people with acceptable levels of good looks, publicised the findings of their poll – a poll that named Irish men as the third ugliest on the planet. Furious? So are we! However, despite these less than complimentary findings, it appears that opinion may be divided on the subject of the world’s most desirable men! For some, the Irish charm is hot on the heels of British royalty. Well, that’s just according to a recent poll involving 30,741 American women! According to Irish Central, the poll that was commissioned by American travel website Miss Travel found that Irish men came second in line to British men when it comes to the question of ‘Who is the sexiest nationality?’ The results of the poll stated that Prince Harry claimed the number one spot of desirable dudes, while our very own Colin Farrell found himself in a not too shabby second place, beating off hot competition from the likes of Gerard Butler, Justin Timberlake and Olivier Martinez. However, when it came to the list of sexiest nationalities for women, we Irish ladies were nowhere to be seen on the top 10 list, with the likes of Shakira, Jennifer Lawrence and Penelope Cruz getting top marks. David Beckham Retires from Football David Beckham announced earlier today that he is retiring from football. After 21 years in the game, the former English captain has decided to call it quits. Beckham has played for some of the top teams in the world during his career including Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Los Angeles Galaxy. The midfielder first joined Manchester United at the tender age of 14 and went on to become one of the most influential figures in sport. He has collected 115 caps for his country and won a league title in four different countries throughout his career. His fortune, estimated at roughly £165 million, makes him the richest athlete ever in British Sport. His current club Paris Saint-German, with whom he won the French League, had apparently offered him another year’s contract but David has decided that now is the time to retire and will finish his career at the end of the season. David said in a statement “If you had told me as a young boy I would have played for and won trophies with my boyhood club Manchester United, proudly captained and played for my country over one hundred times and lined up for some of the biggest clubs in the world, I would have told you it was a fantasy. Christina Aguilera Shows off Slim New Figure! Christina Aguilera has been looking slimmer and slimmer lately after committing to losing the weight she gained last year. The singer showed off her dramatic transformation yesterday on the set of her upcoming music video. Christina looked stunning in the picture she posted on Twitter yesterday while filming the new video. She included the caption “On set shooting music video with @Alexoficial for #HoyTengoGanasDeTi”. The slim waist she showed off in the pic is a far cry from her appearance last year. The 5ft 2in star is said to have teamed up with her old personal trainer, Tee Sorge, in her bid to lose a few pounds. It clearly looks like Sorge’s workout plan has been working for her. Christina had taken a break from judging on the US version of The Voice in order to work on her music and get back in shape. However, she is set to make a return to the next series of the show, replacing Shakira after just one year. Despite her efforts to shed the weight she gained last year, at the time Christina claimed that she loved to show off her fuller figure. She said “Actually, the challenge I’ve always had is being too thin, so I love that now I have a booty, and obviously I love showing my cleavage. The mega famous boyband are in London this morning and have just announced that they will be doing a new stadium tour “WhereWeAreTour” and are set to play Croke Park on the 25th of April 2014, with tickets going on sale from the 25th of May 2013. Eoin Murphy, entertainment editor for Irish Daily and Mail on Sunday tweeted this morn “So One Direction are announcing a stadium tour including Croke Park today. Those tickets will be like gold dust” Considering their website has crashed with the excitement since they made the announcement 15 minutes ago, we think getting a ticket will be impossible.
‘The Voice’ Winner Keith Hanley Goes Back To His Roots He may have just been crowned as the reigning winner of The Voice of Ireland with a €100,000 record deal and the world at his feet, but Keith Hanley certainly hasn’t forgotten where he comes from. Despite maintaining a very busy schedule since his big win just over two weeks ago, the 19-year-old care assistant took a break from all the madness to travel back to Cork yesterday especially to perform some impressive hip hop moves with the children he works with. The event, which was held in the Cork International Airport Hotel, saw the election of the very first Lord Mayor (William Irwin) and Lady Mayoress (Noreen O’Driscoll) of the COPE Foundation; a centre that works to support people with intellectual disabilities. The evening was MC’d by Caitriona Twomey of Penny Dinners along with the fabulous Gerald Kean, whose jibes about bribing the judges and flirtatious comments to the ladies entertained the crowd all evening! Speaking to RSVP at the event, Keith admitted that he was enjoying getting a break away from the madness in Dublin, saying “I’m delighted to be here for this kind of occasion. I’m kept going with all the Dublin stuff but I put my foot down – not in a diva-ish way – and said I have to go home and visit the lads at least once a week because they’re my back bone for sure. Before I ever entered The Voice I was doing the hip hop with them and I was just ‘Keith’ and I’m still just Keith to them and that’s what I love about it.” The young musician also admitted that despite having reservations about the way that he and his work would be portrayed on the show, he was very happy with the result. “Not alone for me has The Voice been a platform, but it also is for the kids I work with and I’m delighted with the coverage it has been given,” Keith revealed. “I was afraid that because it’s a reality TV show, people would be saying I was only doing it for the sympathy but it wasn’t like ...
Where Has The David Harvey Show Gone? It would seem that Classic Hits 4FM daytime talk programme, “The David Harvey Show” has been dropped. The popular show, which provided an alternative to RTÉ Radio 1′s “LiveLine” covering similar topics has not been on air all week, resulting in many fans commenting and querying on Facebook and twitter as to what happened their favourite show – and why there has been no announcement or explanation as to what is going on. Changes to the schedule were confirmed during the week when one fan sent a tweet asking about the show, 4FM relied “@robbiefogerty until 2pm and then @GarethOCallaghan starting at the earlier time of 2pm- 6pm”. So for noW, it lookS like the station are giving an extra hour to Robbie Fogarty’s mid-morning show and starting Gareth O’Callaghan’s afternoon show an hour earlier. David Harvey was also missing from the 4FM airwaves last week, with the station’s late night talk host Niall Boylan filling his seat, while solicitor Gerald Kean has been replacing the opinionated radio host in the last number of weeks. In replying to comments on their facebook page, 4FM said “David Harvey is off air at the moment and we are currently working on some programme changes and hope to announce some over the coming months. Of course, the door is always open for David to return but due to his personal projects and time commitments, he could not continue doing the show (at the moment)”.

Bye Bye Tanya:Actress Jo Joyner Films Final EastEnders Scene One of RSVP’s favourite EastEnders actress filmed her last scenes yeasterday as she leaves the square after nearly seven years. The beautiful and incredibly talented, Jo Joyner, decided to bow out of the hit soap for pastures new, leaving a void that will be hard to fill. Jo who plays the fiesty, Tanya has been through a lot in her seven years, from witnessing Max have numerous affairs, Lauren’s heavy drinking, to her own battle with cancer, life has not been plain sailing for Tanya Cross. Tweeting about her departure today, she wrote: “That’s a wrap! I am officially ‘that woman that use to play thingy in ‘Enders’!” And praising her former on-screen hubby Jake Wood (Max Branning) she added: “Thanks to the lovely @mrjakedwood for such a special time x.” Jake also took to his Twitter page to post a snap of the pals together on Jo’s last day. He captioned the pic: “So here’s me and Jo after filming our last scene together this morning…gonna miss you @dollyjoyner x.” We wish Jo all the best and look forward to seeing her on our screens again soon.

Angelina Jolie to Have Ovaries Removed Angelina Jolie is now planning to have her ovaries removed, following a double mastectomy after discovering she’s a carrier of the BRCA1 gene. The 37-year-old actress made the brave decision to have three months of secret procedures after being told she had and 87% chance of contracting breast cancer. And now, Angelina is said to be planning her next surgery, the removal of both her ovaries. As the gene means she has a 50% chance of developing ovarian cancer. According to People magazine, Angelina is likely to have the next procedures before she turns 40, as doctors recommend having the surgery done after child-bearing age. After the surgery, Angelina will no longer be able to have biological children, although she still has the option to adopt. She and Brad Pitt currently have three biological children, Shiloh, six, and four-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, and three adopted children, Maddox, 11, Pax, nine, Zahara, eight.
