Man kills ex-partner and attacks her disabled son in murder-suicide
A man has killed his ex-partner and seriously injured her disabled son after attacking them before taking his own life.
55 year old Peadar Phair, reportedly murdered his ex-partner, 51 year old Concepta Leonard in her home in Fermanagh.
Her 30 year old son Conor, who has Down syndrome, remained in intensive care last night due to his injuries.
Peadar then took his own life, after police failed to resuscitate him after he was found at the home.
A former colleague told the Mirror:
“He was a bad b*****d, a lunatic. They were only going out for about a year. She must have realised what he was like and dumped him to get away from him. They split up around Christmas. He had a history of it. Everyone knew what he was like. He was a coward. He would’ve tried to bully the boys in work. He was a know-it-all but he was a coward behind it all. We used to call him the wife beater. He did time in jail for that. He left a woman in a really bad way a few years ago and I remember him being sentenced to about six months.”
It is reported that Concepta had recently taken legal action against him, to prevent him for contacting her, with a source telling the publication:
“She was afraid of him and his threats and in the end she had to take action against him. She went to court and was granted a non-molestation order against him. It was known in the area he was violent and he did time in jail for violence. He had vanished from the area for a while but he was back today with an awful plan. Poor Conor was devoted to his mum and now he has lost her. Words cannot describe how that makes us feel.”
Our thoughts are with the family at this heart-breaking time.
