Met Eireann issues warning for thunderstorms
Met Eireann have put a dampener on any hope of our summer returning today.
The forecaster has warned that thunderstorms are on their way back this week as well as widespread rain across Ireland.
According to the forecaster, he east and northwest will be the worst affected with “heavy and prolonged”.
The country will also be hit with thunderstorms, with the forecaster stating on their website:
“Today will be mostly cloudy with a lot of dry weather this morning, but heavy and prolonged showers locally in the east and northwest. The showers will become widespread this afternoon, and they will merge into longer spells of rain with isolated thunderstorms.
“A little cooler than yesterday, with maximum temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees, in light to moderate northerly breezes. Scattered showers this morning, some will be heavy and prolonged. The heavy showers will become more widespread this afternoon with thunder locally. Highest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees in moderate northwest breezes.”
Sigh, no need to take back out the BBQs just yet so.
