My Style: Model Vogue Williams

She’s the model, DJ, and star of Fade Street who is now living in Australia and engaged to singer Brian McFadden. Vogue Williams shares her style secrets with RSVP.

How would you describe your style in three words?

Edgy, fun and classic at times!

What is your favourite item in your wardrobe at the moment?

It has to be my new Dolce and Gabbana dress. I bought it from Diffusion in Clontarf for €100 in the sale.

At 5’11 you’re the perfect model height, but does your height make it hard when shopping for jeans or dresses?

Well jeans are easy enough to buy but dresses are a bit harder!! The Kate Moss dresses are way too short for me!

As a model you get to wear the most fabulous clothes, what have been your favourite so far?

I love clothes, so on most shoots I will always see something I like.

What is your favourite part of being a model?

I love that my job is different everyday! I get to meet new people all the time, which is always great. On some shoots I get to hang out with my friends so it doesn’t feel like work at all! Another bonus is the amazing clothes I get to wear and seeing how stylists work, as they give me some great ideas.

And the worst?

At times there is a lot of waiting around and being cold!

As one of the stars of Fade Street, every fashion move you make is watched attentively by viewers. Are you conscious of this when choosing an outfit?

Not any more conscious than I would be on a normal day. I just wear what I like and hope it doesn’t offend anyone.

Do you have any body insecurities? How do you work around them?

I think everybody has issues with their bodies, but I’m not going to point mine out because that will draw attention to them!! I work around any body hang-ups by jogging, going for walks every day and trying to be healthy, which doesn’t always work out…

What does style mean to you?

Style means being comfortable in what you’re wearing. If you wear a dress that is too short, then you will only spend the whole night pulling it down which is never a good look!

Where is your favourite city to shop?

I think Dublin is still great for shopping, but London and Berlin are great for vintage shops.

Are you a designer or high-street kind of girl?

I’m high street all the way! If I could afford to be clad head to toe in Stella McCartney, I’d be delighted, but I need to win the lotto first.

What three things are essential in any wardrobe?

A good pair of skinny jeans, a crisp white shirt and a good blazer.

Who are your style icons and why?

Alexa Chung because she always gets it right. My friend Kate O’Dowd always looks amazing. Every time I go out with her I’m jealous of her outfit!

What is the most sure-fire fashion advice you can offer?

Don’t try and fit into clothes that are even one size too small as they end up making you feel uncomfortable. I find myself looking at tiny things in the sale, and nearly buying them just because they are cheap.

What wouldn’t you be caught dead wearing?

Crocs!!

Crocs: Not in Vogue

What is the best bargain you’ve ever found?

A dress I bought in Dunnes for three euro!

What are your favourite fashion magazines and why?

Grazia is great for their high street stuff and Elle for the things I put on my wish list!

What is your favourite beauty buy that you couldn’t live without?

I swear by all Decleor products. I think they’re great for my skin and they smell delicious too.

Any beauty tips from the modelling world?

Make sure to take your make up off every night as it really does make a difference. And not to sound like a cliché, but drink plenty of water, it’s great for your skin.

What do you like to do on your days off?

I don’t really get days off as I always have a million things to catch up on, but if I have a morning off I go and do the cliff walk in Howth or just chill out with friends.

What is on your iPod?

At the moment I’m listening to a lot of Fakeblood. He’s an English DJ.

DJ Fakeblood

What always goes in your handbag when you travel?

My make up, a book, my iPod and water.

Who would get your nominations for the best and worst dressed celebrities?

Carey Mulligan is getting it right a lot these days. The worst would be Jordan for obvious reasons!

If you could invite any three celebrities – alive or dead – to breakfast, lunch and dinner who would they be?

I would have Tina Turner for breakfast, John Lennon for lunch and Michael Collins for dinner.

Imagine lunch with Lennon, Vogue

What’s your philosophy for life?

Live every day like it’s your last

Who do you most admire?

My friends and family.

If you had one wish what would it be?

It would be for a million more wishes.
