Many questions had been raised, some even assuming abuse, after Nigella’s husband had been photographed with his hands on her throat while they were out at their favourite Mayfair restaurant, central London. In a statement he said: “Although Nigella made no complaint I volunteered to go to Charing Cross and take a police caution after a discussion with my lawyer because I thought it was better than the alternative of this hanging over all of us for months.”
Now, The latest update is that 70-year-old Charles Saatchi has confessed to assaulting his TV cook wife, Nigella Lawson, because he said he did not want the affair “hanging over all of us for months.”
The multi-millionaire art collector said that he went to the Police by himself and confessed so he could prevent a lengthy investigation. Saatchi was not arrested and received a very low level punishment in the form of a caution. Yesterday he emerged from his mansion looking happy and grinning as if the controversy surrounding his actions had been erased.
