  1. Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself Nicola!

I’m an absolute makeup junkie currently based between Dublin and Wexford. I’m 22 years old and ever since I can remember have always been creative. While in school I found a love for art which years later evolved into my passion for makeup.

  1. When did you first become interested in makeup?

Ever since I can remember I have always been hugely interested in all things beauty whether it was makeup, hair, nails or skincare. However, makeup has always stood out as my favourite by far. I love how creative one can be through makeup.

  1. When and why did you decide that you wanted to make a career out of it?

I have been freelancing since 2013 and after I finished college last year I decided to really take it seriously and start the pro makeup artist course in The LA College of Creative Arts. I saw this as a major stepping stone in order to have a successful career in the makeup industry.

  1. What are some of your favourite makeup brands?

Without a doubt, Anastasia Beverly Hills is one of my absolute favs! When it comes to foundation I think you can never stop experimenting therefore I love to try out new products that are continuously launching. However at the moment my favourite brand for foundation is the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. I also can’t live without the Mac Pro Long Wear Concealer for under the eyes!

  1. Where do you get your inspiration from when deciding what look to do?

One of my favourite places to turn to is YouTube. It is filled with the most amazing makeup gurus from which I get a lot of inspiration. I not only love them but have gained a lot of skills from watching them. Some of my favourites are Desi Perkins and Chrisspy.

  1. Who are some of your favourite makeup artists?

I’m a big fan of Lora Arellano, who is also one of the creators of Melt Cosmetics. I love the fact that she doesn’t play it safe, she is never afraid to go crazy with her looks! I also admire Ariel Tejada and Michelle Regazzoli Stone.

  1. What are your hopes for the future in terms of your career?

In the future I would love to see myself working in an editorial and high fashion makeup environment. I also hope to build my own freelance career from strength to strength.

  1. If you could makeover any celebrity, who would it be any why?

It would by far have to be Lana Del Rey. I adore her emphasis on glowing skin and love her quirky style.

  1. What has been your highlight so far while both studying makeup artistry and working as a makeup artist?

I think it’s the fact that you have the power to make someone else feel good about themselves and give them a new found confidence. It’s an extremely rewarding job.

  1. Can you share some holy grail makeup tips with us that we need to know?

If you’re like me and have terrible bags under your eyes from not having enough beauty sleep, a trick I love it to use is applying a pink/red lipstick, (depending on your skin tone) under your eyes before your actual concealer. However remember to really blend in the lipstick thoroughly! You will see a major difference as the red tones will cancel out the darkness.  Also to achieve that ultimate glowing skin for any look, I swear by Mac Strobe Cream. Just apply a little bit to where the light would naturally hit the face before foundation.
