Hi Hazel! First of all, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what it is you do?

Hi there! Well I’m a 24 year old creative gal living in Kildare, but work a lot in Dublin. I’m an artist, face painter and model.

Did you always know that you wanted to pursue the career you’re in now?

I always knew I wanted to create. From a very young age I was always doodling and making things and I just knew that that was what I wanted to spend my time doing.

How did you first get into the industry?

Well, when I went to college to study Fibre Art, I met a lot of other like minded creatives who encouraged me to get my name out there. I started blogging and posting my work on social media. From there I started working on shoots, selling my work online and also got a job as a Face Painter.

Can you describe your typical day as an artist for us?

Every day is different. I could be doing makeup, travelling to Dublin for a shoot, or anywhere in Ireland for Face Painting. When I’m at home I try to stick to a schedule. I usually do a bit of yoga and meditation before diving into whatever creative project I’m working on that day.

If you weren’t doing what you’re doing now, what do you think you would be working as?

Professional dog walker. Actually I won’t rule that out just yet!

What has been your biggest achievement to date?

I’d say setting up my home studio and signing to Not Another Agency

The dreaded question: Where do you hope to be in five years’ time?

Doing exactly what I’m doing now but with a couple mil in the bank!

If you could makeover or style any celebrity, who would it be and why?

I’d like to give Donald Trump an 80’s glam-rock makeover complete with face paint and glitter

Can you share three tips for people hoping to pursue a career in the creative arts?

Share your work on social media. Don’t compare yourself to other artists. Experiment.

If you had to choose, would you pick being a model or being an artist?

As much as I love working on shoots, I’m an artist first and foremost. I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t create. Maybe dog walking.

Who are your influences in life?

I have so many from artists to musicians, Ken Price, Elsa Shiaparelli, Stanley Kubrick to name a few.

How would you describe your personal style?

What is your favourite thing to do when you’re not working?

Eating pizza with friends

If you could marry any celebrity, who would it be and why?

Nicole Richie, she makes me laugh and I like her dad.

How do you stay motivated doing what you do?

I think having a positive attitude is everything. I like to set little goals for myself every week. If I need inspiration I’ll check out Tumblr or Instagram or listen to my favourite music.
