Doors co-founder and keyboardist Ray Manzarek dies Doors co-founder and keyboardist Ray Manzarek died yesterday in Rosenheim, Germany after a long battle with bile duct cancer. He was 74. According to the bands website, Manzarek passed away today at the RoMed Clinic in Rosenheim, Germany after a lengthy battle with bile duct cancer. Ray was surrounded by his wife Dorothy and his brothers Rick and James. Doors’ guitarist Robby Krieger released a statement saying, “I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and bandmate Ray Manzarek.” “I’m just glad to have been able to have played Doors songs with him for the last decade. Ray was a huge part of my life and I will always miss him.” According to the band’s official Facebook page .Ray’s family has asked that instead of flowers, fans should make an in memoriam donation in Ray’s name to Standup2cancer.org. The Doors have sold more than 100 million records and songs such as “Light My Fire” and “Riders On the Storm” are still “classic” rock standards. Next to Jim Morrison, Manzarek was the most distinctive looking band member, his glasses and wavy blond hair making him resemble a young student rather than rock royalty. Twitter was last night full of condolences for the legend, may he rest in peace.
Niall Horan Has Some Fun with Fans on a Hotel Balcony Our own Niall Horan looked his usual happy self as he messed around while on a hotel balcony in Milan. The One Direction star put on a performance for his waiting fans who had gathered outside of his hotel. Adoring fans watched as the 19-year-old’s bodyguard was pretending to strangle him at one point, along with other funny poses by the Mullingar man. Niall seemed to be joined by a film crew as well, who happily recorded the whole thing, laughing along at Niall’s entertaining of the crowd. The boys may be shooting for the band’s documentary or a new music video perhaps.
Wills Opens Up About Fatherhood and Kate Has a Marilyn Moment Prince William opened up about fatherhood today, when asked if he was looking forward to being a father he responded “very much so”. He then added; “All the mothers have been looking at me, “just you wait, just you wait. Long sleepless nights” Prince William and his brother Prince Harry were attending the opening of a state-of-the-art recovery centre for wounded troops to rebuild their lives after serious injury. William’s wife wasn’t in attendance but the Duchess of Cambridge who is seven months pregnant suffered a minor wardrobe malfunction last week. While attending a friend’s wedding with William, Kate’s dress was blown up by the wind, resulting in a Marilyn Monroe moment. But the royal mother-to-be handled it with her usual grace and laughed off the incident. The Duchess is due to give birth on July 13th.
Nadine Coyle To Set Up Brand New Girl Band? Despite admitting to RSVP back in March that Girls Aloud were here to stay, Nadine Coyle’s girl band dream fell apart when her fellow band mates decided to call time on their 10 year success. Speaking to RSVP before the announcement of the split was made, Nadine spoke enthusiastically of her hopes for the future of the band, saying, “There is no way we’re splitting – I won’t allow the girls to ever split up. I told them that in 2002, telling them, ‘Just so you know what you are in for, this is a lifetime commitment.’ I never want anything to be the final anything for Girls Aloud.” So it comes as no surprise that the girls’ decision to part ways was met with great disappointment on Nadine’s part, who took to Twitter to reassure fans that it was out of her hands, saying “You should know by now I had no part in any of this split business. I couldn’t stop them. I had the best time & want to keep going. Xxxx” Now, however, it appears that Nadine has found a way to fill the career void left by Girls Aloud, after the Mail on Sunday reported that the singer is rumoured to on the lookout for the next big girl band. Speaking to the newspaper, a source revealed “When she was in Girls Aloud Nadine always wanted to be the leader but it never worked out like that. By putting together her own band, she can take control and also reap the financial rewards.” It remains to be seen whether or not Nadine will be taking on a management only role or if she plans to front the band herself, but we can’t wait to see what the 27-year-old has up her sleeve.

There are moments like that when suddenly everything is a bit too surreal. The thing is I never take it for granted but it’s just part of my life. It doesn’t overwhelm me. I’ve been dealing with it since I was 10 and I’ve been lucky in that since the very first film I’ve done, I’ve worked with a lot of very well-known actors so I’ve gotten used to that quite early on and I’m sure that’s made a difference. I think what’s really made a difference is my mom’s attitude to it all because she’s always come away with me from the age of 10 and she’s never swept up in that kind of stuff. Rochelle and Marvin Welcome Baby Girl Into The World The Saturdays Rochelle Wiseman and husband Marvin Humes of JLS fame have just welcomed their first child into the world. The couple’s baby girl was born this morning and her proud dad took to Twitter immediately after to share the news, saying “This morning we welcomed our baby girl Alaia-Mai Humes…Mum is doing great & baby is amazing! We are both overjoyed! Thanks for your love x” Little Alaia-Mai will no doubt be a great friend for Rochelle’s fellow Saturday Una Healy’s baby Aoife Belle, who recently turned one. Helen Mirren Makes Dying Boys Wish Come True RSVP loves a nice story and when we heard Dame Helen Mirren granted a very sick ten-year-old boys wish by dressing up as the Queen and having him around for tea, we were overwhelmed. Little Oliver Burton is facing his third battle with cancer and his biggest dream was to have tea with the Queen. When the real HRH was unable to meet Oliver, it was arranged that he would meet Dame Helen instead who is currently playing the Queen in a West End show. Dame Helen paid for Oliver and his mum and dad to see her show before bringing them backstage for tea and cakes. The family were thrilled as Oliver believed she was the actual Queen. Speaking to the mail online, James Browne, Oliver’s dad said ‘She stayed in character for the whole thing. Oliver thought she was the real Queen, and well, that’s good enough for us. ‘She was really lovely. She did the whole thing – had a butler there, was dressed in costume and did it all properly for him. ‘She sat in Oliver’s wheelchair and gave him her big chair. She had a glass of coke together and biscuits and little sandwiches and they even brought in her corgis from the show, Coco and Roco. ‘She was wonderful and in some of the photos you do a double take because she really does look like the real Queen. ‘She knighted him and told everyone that they had to call him Sir Oliver. He had a brilliant day. He took his British flag and got her to sign it and just waved and waved it all day.’
Linda Martin ‘Man in Drag’ Joke Former Eurovision winner Linda Martin was the target of a cruel on-stage joke during Saturday night’s Eurovision final. After footage of Martin singing her winning song ‘Why Me’ was shown, host Petra Mede then said “I know a man in drag when I see one.” According to the Irish Independent, it is believe RTE asked for the segment to be toned down as they felt it was too critical and Ms Martin was in the arena for the show. Speaking to the Irish Independent Michael Kelly, head of the Irish delegation said “All of the broadcasters were sent a running order and script two days before the show,” “We didn’t suggest they take it out but make reference to the fact that she was in the audience. It would’ve been nice to acknowledge her as a former winner in Malmo. They didn’t do that, obviously; there were severe time constraints. But it was minor and I don’t think Linda was offended.” Twitter was on fire after the comment with most people defending Ms Martin.
David Beckham Breaks Down In Tears As He Plays Last Game Football star David Beckham showed his softer side when he broke down in tears on Saturday after playing his last ever professional game. The legend announced his retirement from the game last week and coming off the pitch after captaining Paris St Germain during their final home game, the 38-year-old started to cry as he waved to fans and hugged his teammates. His wife, Victoria and children Romeo, Brooklyn, Cruz and Harper watched on as David received a standing ovation by players and fans. It looked like Victoria also got emotional as she watched her husband play for the last time. Speaking after the match, David said that he was looking forward to spending a few months off with his family, ‘I want to say thank you to everybody in Paris – to my team-mates, to the staff, to the fans. ‘It’s been very special to finish my career here. It could not have been any more special. ‘I just feel that it’s the right time . I feel that I’ve achieved everything that I could in my career. I wanted to go out as a champion. I’ve finished my career in a team that has treated me like I’ve been here for 10 years ‘After 22 years of playing football I’m going to take a few months to enjoy time with my family.’
Kimye Expecting a Baby… Hollywood baby-hype has begun hitting an all-time high as due dates draw nearer, and one of the most eagerly anticipated celeb-offsprings of 2013 is without a doubt baby Kimye. Seriously, does anyone even really remember what the general media talked about before Kim Kardashian got pregnant? Well, it’s not over quite yet, and the most recent speculation to sweep the cybersphere is that Kimye are expecting a baby girl. Said speculation began after rather feminine baby shower invitations were sent out to the couple’s friends and family. E! revealed that invitations to the shower arrived inside music boxes, that contained wind-up ballerinas, and played Kanye’s ‘Hey Mama’. The invitations are only the most recent in a number of hints that Kim is expecting a mini-Kim. In February, her godmother told reporters that the star was four months pregnant with “her little girl”.
Harry Styles Has Royal Ambitions One Direction’s notorious ladies man, Harry Styles, has apparently decided to step up his dating game, and is rumoured to have set his sights on some British royalty. Harry is reportedly becoming obsessed with the idea of socialising with a higher class of people in a desperate attempt to improve his credibility. The One Direction heart throb is said to have told friends he wants to “move up in the world” by getting into higher class circles. An insider told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “Harry is so bored of the showbiz set and thinks it’s time to move up in the world. Backstage before he gigs he was even trawling the internet, asking his band mates what they thought of each girl. He drew up a ‘hit list’ and the only rule was they couldn’t be married.” Recent reports suggest that Harry has set his sights on British Princess Eugenie, but he also isn’t ruling out Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa – although he knows she is in a “serious” relationship. The source added: “Needless to say, Pippa Middleton’s on his list – at number two – but he’s aware she has a serious boyfriend. He also has a thing for Princess Beatrice, even though he said she’s not his ‘typical type of girl’. But he’s totally fascinated with Princess Eugenie. He thinks she’s got the full package of class, looks and status.” The pop star is apparently obsessed with the idea of getting into the high-class circles and is willing to date those with royal connections to work his way in. The insider revealed: “Harry has even secured a few phone numbers already through his high-flying contacts. Sharon And Ozzy Working It Out Despite living apart for a number of weeks in LA to get a break from their marital problems, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne appear to be making an effort to mend the cracks in their long term marriage. The showbiz pair, who have been married for 31 years, recently experienced trying times within their relationship due to Ozzy’s continued battle with a drink and drug problem and the stress caused by a staggering tax bill for over £1 million. However, with Ozzy now clean and sober, the Sunday People has reported that the couple intend to work on their marriage as they move to England together so that Sharon can resume work as a judge on The X Factor. Speaking to The Mirror a source said, “By supporting Sharon in the UK it means they can work through their problems and she can help him with his issues. They will be staying at their house in Buckhinghamshire which is in the country side and very peaceful, like a haven. This is something they need to do for each other.” Sharon is set to take up her old position next to BFF Louis Walsh as one of the X Factor judges for another season, after signing a deal worth a reported £1.8 million.
Former X Factor Flames Dating Once Again After enjoying a brief fling following their time together on the X Factor in 2008, it seems that the flame between JLS’ Oritse Williams and singer Ruth Lorenzo may have been reignited after Ruth admitted that the pair are once again in contact. The romance between Ruth and Oritse originally heated up during their time in the X Factor house and carried on for 8 months, but their relationship ended after the boy bander admitted to sleeping with a fan while on the road with JLS. Ben Affleck makes it Up to Jennifer Garner after Oscar Speech Fail Ben Affleck hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend and he spent most of his kick off monologue apologising to his wife. After saying his marriage was ‘work’ during his Oscars speech, Ben has been faced with criticism. The Argo director called his wife, Jennifer Garner onto the stage to defend his comments. Jennifer appeared and gave her husband a kiss before Ben asked his wife to ‘Tell the people what I meant when I said marriage is work’. Jennifer explained; ‘Well it is a way we talk privately about how committed we are to our marriage, I’m not sure why you had to share it live to a billion people’. When asked what she would have called their marriage, Jennifer said without hesitation, ‘A gift!’ Ben jokingly read off a cue card as he attempted to make amends: ‘I want to tell you how I wished I had ended that speech, – I couldn’t do anything I do without your love and support you’re my angel, my life and my world.’ Laughing away at her husband Jen made sure to get in the last joke: ‘Thank you you’re a lot of work.’ Awh, aren’t they adorable!
Rob and Kristen Split Once Again Their relationship survived the biggest cheating scandal of last year, but it seems the couple have since called it quits. People magazine is reporting that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have broken up after almost four years together. On Monday, it appeared Kristen had left her California home, which she shares with Rob. Despite it being Robert’s 27th birthday, Kristen stayed at a friend’s house just down the road from her own home. She was seen driving around the area and is rumoured to be tearing up at one point. The couple, who broke up briefly in December following Kristen’s summer fling with married director Rupert Sanders, are believed to have split again but who knows if it’s for good. Sources insisted to the magazine it may just be a temporary split for the Twilight co-stars.
A Fourth Coronation Street Star Accused of Sexual Assault A fourth Coronation Street star has been accused of sexual assault on a minor. These fresh allegations have been made after Bill Roache (Ken Barlow), Michael Le Vell (Kevin Webster) and Andrew Lancel (Frank Foster) were all charged with sexual offences against children. According to The Sun, the actor, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is being accused of preying on a 12-year-old girl who had visited the set of the soap in the 1960s looking for autographs from stars of the show. The accused is reported to have befriended the victim and given her lifts home before doing something “very inappropriate” in the Manchester studio. A friend of the woman, now in her 50s, said “She used to go to the studios to get autographs. It was a real highlight when the stars stood and talked to you. Sometimes they invited the girls into the studios.” The victim reportedly confided in her friend, saying “I didn’t realise what was going on.” She has since been interviewed by police in Devon before the case was passed on to Lancashire police who will investigate the matter further. The actor is said to no longer be in the soap but was a household name during his stint on the show. He is the fourth Corrie star to be accused of sexual assault in recent months. Andrew Lancel has been charged with six counts of sexually assaulting a boy under the age of 15 and will appear in court in June. He denies the claims. Michael Le Vell pleaded not guilty to 19 cases of sexual assault against a child, including rape, yesterday. Bill Roach has been charged with two counts of rape. He also denies the accusations.
Irish Eurovision Delegation on Lockdown After Ryan Dolan Sent “Dangerous” Packages Irish Eurovision hopeful Ryan Dolan reportedly got a shock yesterday when three “dangerous” packages meant for his dressing room were seized by security. The Irish Eurovision delegation was put into lockdown following the discovery. 27-year-old Ryan arrived at the Malmo arena shortly after 1.30pm to record his final dress rehearsal which will be sent to the international jury panel and is worth 50% of the overall vote. When he arrived, he and his backing singers and dancers were rushed to a holding area where they were informed of the three packages said to contain “dangerous” and “suspicious” material. The packages were taken away by the Malmo police and destroyed. It is unknown what the exact nature of these dangerous materials was. Despite the drama, the Tyrone man went on to film a pitch perfect performance. Last night the Irish team were kept on lockdown at their hotel. According to Ryan’s manager, Conor Mulhall, the whole Irish delegation was shaken by the incident. He told the Irish Daily Mail “Ryan has been receiving stacks of mail from all over Europe all week. It was being delivered to the arena and we would get it at rehearsals. But when we arrived today we were taken away to a room and told these packages had arrived that were suspicious in nature.” He continued “The authorities were called in and they scanned them through an X-ray machine and were deemed to be dangerous. They took them away and destroyed them but they didn’t tell us if there was a bomb or a dangerous substance. They did suggest that there was a serious security risk. Ryan is due to perform his song ‘Only Love Survives’ last during tonight’s Eurovision grand final. He is considered an outsider to win with Denmark’s Emelie De Forest being the firm favourite.
Rihanna Suing Topshop for $5 million Rihanna is reportedly suing fashion outlet Topshop for $5 million (€3.8 million). The singer is taking action against the high street store after they started selling T-shirts with her likeness on them without her consent. Rihanna has hired international law firm Reed Smith to file the case against the fashion giants in London after her own legal team failed to come to a deal with the owners of Topshop, Arcadia, after eight months of negotiations. A source told the New York Post “Rihanna’s management asked Topshop a number of times to stop selling her image and were told, ‘We do what we want’. They buy the pictures from a photographer, but they do not pay the artist licensing fees. Unfortunately, UK law does not protect the artist. What is most offensive for Rihanna is that they basically told her, ‘Go to hell. We don’t care. We are going to continue selling you’. Topshop is now in the United States.” Rihanna has allegedly already spent $1 million (€770,178) pursuing the case and is said to be doing it on principle rather than for any financial gain. The source said “Even though the UK laws don’t protect the artist, she has decided to move forward and sue Topshop. She has spent almost $1 million in litigation at this point. She says it’s the principle, and wants to make a statement about it. They are taking advantage of artists. It is just exploitation. What they are doing is wrong.” An insider at Topshop has spoken out about the case, defending their stance as the T-shirts came from a third-party supplier. They said “This issue is related to a T-shirt provided to Topshop by a third-party supplier. We are aware it is the subject of litigation. The amount of damages sought has not been articulated anywhere in the claimant’s document.” Rihanna launched her new summer range with RiverIsland in February. The collection also features items bearing her face.
Gunshots Fired During Christoph Waltz Interview at Cannes Two time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz was caught up in the middle of a gun scare at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday (17th May). The actor was being interviewed on Canal Plus’ Le Grand Journal when a crazed audience fired two shots and threatened to blow up the studio with a hand grenade. A recording of the incident shows the audience running away in panic as Christoph and fellow actor Daniel Auteuil are rushed off stage by security guards. Fortunately the shots fired by the man were blanks and the grenade with which he threatened to blow up the studio was a fake. He was arrested at the scene after being tackled by security. Christoph, who won two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor for Quentin Tarantino films Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained, told The Daily Mail about the ordeal. He said “I was on a panel at the StudioCanal platform off the beach when a man produced a gun. I think it was a pistol and he fired but luckily for me they were blanks. Then he shouted he had a grenade and again luckily for me there was no grenade. The police have him. They tackled him to the ground. I don’t know who he was or where he came from or what his problem was.” An eyewitness told of how security managed to deal with the gunman. Arthur Laiguesse stated “The bodyguards jumped over the barriers into the crowd and pulled him to the ground. The police arrived and told everyone to run because there was a grenade in his hand.” Later, speaking to France 24, Michel Denisot, presenter of Le Grand Journal, said “He said to a woman next to him ‘if I were you, I wouldn’t stick around here’. There were no bullets in the gun and the grenade was a fake.” This is the second major criminal incident to take place at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The day before over €1 million worth of Chopard jewellery, which was intended to be worn by stars attending the festival, was stolen from Suite Novotel hotel.
Beyoncé Expecting Her Second Child! The rumours have been doing the rounds for a while now but now it has reportedly been confirmed that Beyoncé is expecting her second child with rapper Jay-Z! According to E! Online multiple sources have confirmed that the ‘Love On Top’ singer is pregnant yesterday (17th May), while another confirmed the good news with Hollywoodlife.com. Rumours about her pregnancy have been awash throughout the media for the past few weeks as she appeared to have a baby bump at this year’s Met Ball and at her concert in London, part of her current ‘The Mrs Carter Show World Tour’. The speculation escalated after she cancelled a gig in Belgium earlier this week, blaming dehydration and exhaustion. In February Beyoncé told Oprah Winfrey that she “definitely” wanted another child, saying “I think my daughter needs some company.” However, she went on to say that she and Jay Z would wait until “after this next tour.” Beyoncé and Jay Z have yet to make any comments on the matter. Meanwhile, some American celebs have come out on Twitter to congratulate the singer. TV presenter and executive, Andy Cohen tweeted “hey @beyonce —- MAZEL on your #FierceFetus!” Russell Simmons, founder of hip-hop label Def Jam, wrote “Congratulations Jay-Z & Beyonce…” While DJ and hip-hop artist Funk Flex also congratulated the couple, tweeting “Congratulations Jay & Bey: Beyonce’s Pregnancy Has Been Confirmed!”
