CAREER

Your path into the industry…

I have worked my way up over the years. I started as a barista with Insomnia in 2005 and became the company’s youngest ever store manager at just 19. After graduating with an honours Business Degree I worked for an engineering company for 2 years. There I gained valuable experience in quality control, operations and more. I returned to Insomnia and worked across various departments and progressed to the role of Operations & Purchasing Manager which perfectly combines my love for food, design and productivity. I have also been blogging since 2009 and just started a new website on everything from fashion and food to travel & wellbeing.

Your greatest achievement…

I wouldn’t be able to pick just one, there has been so many peaks in both my professional and blogging career. Personally though it would definitely be getting to where I am now and achieving so much within the last 10 years. It hasn’t always been easy and I was out of work for 6 tough months in between jobs but it makes it even better to realise how far I have come.

FASHION

Your style…

It’s ever changing. I rarely stay true to one style for long, I like to have fun with clothes and go from vintage to modern to tracksuits in a blink of an eye. There has definitely been some development going on though and my wardrobe is now full of basics and monochrome, I must be growing up!

Your style icons…

Again, they change and evolve but the few that seem to stick around would be Miroslava Duma (since before she was on every street style page), Angela Scanlon (her style is just fun) and Coco Chanel (no need to explain).

Your favourite piece…

A pair of Louboutins, I got them from my boyfriend a few years ago and always feel great wearing them.

BEAUTY

Your skincare routine…

It has improved a lot recently. My friend recommended Therapie Clinic to me and I have been a lot better sticking to daily cleansing, twice a week scrub and once a week masque. I also go through proper makeup removal pre-training which I never bothered doing, as bad as it sounds..

Your favourite products…

I stick with the Image range from Therapie right now but I love Victoria’s Secret body lotions and pretty much any cosmetics in brown bottles that smell natural. Yes, I am any cosmetic brand dream customer, a total sucker for packaging.

LIFE

Your ‘me’ time…

90% of the time it involves good coffee and a good book. Like most women I love a bit of pampering and getting my nails or hair done is sacrosanct.

Your hobbies…

Yoga, reading, writing, travelling, even tabata training recently… There’s always way too many to fit in a day. I like to change what I do but I always go back to the first three of the above.

Your favourite restaurant…

Being a committed foodie I haven’t got one. I have eaten in so many amazing restaurants over the years and the Dublin restaurant scene is so exciting right now, it really is impossible to pick just one. I had a fantastic meal in Boqueria on Prussia Street soon after it opened, I always like to go back to Chapter One and lunch in the Pig’s Ear is always good.

Your favourite holiday destination…

Travel should probably classify as a hobby of mine as well so it’s not as easy choice as I rarely go to one place more than once. In Europe it would be Italy, every time I go I contemplate moving over! However, if I was to pick just one spot for the rest of my life it would be Krabi in Thailand. There is an amazing hotel close to Ao Nang, very private and luxurious. It’s a real heaven on earth.

Your stress-busting tip…

It would be taking time out in West Cork. There is something very remote and relaxing about it, I always feel recharged after I go there. Parknasilla is my go-to spot for spa and relaxation but most of the time I spend walking and lazing around with my boyfriend and Molly, our dog.  I recently discovered roll on essential oils and try to use these on the go if I’m stressed, it’s such a cool idea.

HOME

Your style…

I would like to think it’s very minimalistic and Scandi but in reality I’m a hoarder. There’s never too many flower vases or worse, paintings on the walls. I even use stacks of magazines as tables but they fil up as quickly…

Your favourite piece…

A bright green cupboard I got in Tk Maxx about 7 years ago. It sounds mad but it’s very cool, it was the first piece of furniture I got when I started living on my own. Not very practical but I always loved it.
