- Olympian Jessica Ennis Marries Her Childhood Sweetheart
British Olympian Jessica Ennis married her childhood sweetheart earlier today (18th May). The athlete looked radiant as she tied the knot with Andy Hill.
The ceremony took place in the afternoon at St Michael and All Angels Church in Hathersage, not far from her home town of Sheffield. Jessica and Andy made their vows in front of a crowd of 100 guests.
Jessica wore a cream V-necked dress with a large ruffled tulle skirt. She wore her hair up with a full length veil and kept her make-up simple. She completed the look with diamond stud earrings and a matching diamond necklace and carried a small bouquet of pale pink and cream roses.
Andy, who is a construction site manager, looked dapper in a dark grey morning suit accompanied by a pink tie and pink handkerchief.
After the ceremony the newlyweds posed for the cameras before making their way to the reception with their guests.
- Would You Dare Wear Pink on Your Wedding Day?
With wedding season coming at us quick and fast, it’s time to look at some of the more controversial wedding dress trends you may be seeing this summer. Dare we say this may be the end of the white wedding? Probably not, but if any of you risqué brides out there are thinking of adding a dash of pink to your dress, you’re not alone.
Celebrities like, Reese Witherspoon, Gwen Stefani, Jessica Biel and Anne Hathaway have all worn their wedding dresses with a splash of pink and remained looking elegant and classy for their big day. The key to pulling off this controversial look has to be less is more, think more dusty touches rather than full-on Jordan style.
According to a recent study a quarter of young brides are choosing to wear red, pink and blue instead of traditional white. It seems nearly one in ten would wear a red dress, one in 20 would emulate the stars and don a pink dress and four percent would marry in blue.
So what about you ladies, any Irish women out there planning to ditch the white?
- Keira Knightly Weds James Righton in Intimate Ceremony
Keira Knightley got married to her rock star fiancé James Righton earlier today in a low-key ceremony in the south of France.
The 28-year-old actress and the 29-year-old Klaxons rocker exchanged their vows in an intimate ceremony in front of just 11 of their closest family and friends. The wedding took place at midday at the town hall of Mazan which is a small town just 12 miles from Marseilles.
Keira looked understated but elegant in a strapless white dress with a tuille skirt which she wore with a cropped Chanel jacket. She accompanied the look with pink pumps and a daisy-chain style garland on her head.
She may be worth over £30 million but Keira went for an unusually understated choice in wedding car, a Renault Clio!
According to onlookers the wedding was a particularly touching one. One witness said “It was a very moving ceremony. Keira looked extremely moved by the whole thing – there were certainly tears of happiness. It was sunny day without a cloud in the sky. There were cheers of ‘Well done, Keira’ when she came out, but there were so few people present so they didn’t make much noise. It was amusing to see them being driven away in a battered old Renault Clio – it certainly looked as though it had seen better days.”
The guest will be treated to a reception hosted by Keira’s mother, Sharman MacDonald, later in the day. The reception will be held at Sharman’s £3 million house which is situated on the family’s 20 acre vineyard just three miles outside of the town.
- Kimye Reportedly Set Wedding Date!
Earlier this week, Kanye West tweeted simply:
“June Eighteen”
The seemingly nonsensical tweet has now taken on a whole new means for speculation since rumours began circulating that the rap superstar and girlfriend, Kim Kardashian have set a wedding date and no, you did not zone out and miss an entire engagement, apparently the pair don’t feel the need to even have an engagement.
According to a source, the couple even have a location for their nuptials:
“They’re going to tie the knot in a lavish wedding in the Los Angeles area right after the birth of their child, where they can hear the waves and be married under the moon and stars.”
According to reports, Kanye is letting Kim take the reigns on wedding plans, but he is insisting no media whatsoever be present for the occasion, and doesn’t want photos of the day to be sold for profit, according to the source, the groom instead wants:
“…a donation to one of Kim’s charities like the Skin Cancer Foundation, or Mattel Children’s Hospital in a deal around the wedding for a short film.”
There has been no official confirmation from the couple as to whether or not the rumours are true, so watch this space!
- The Year Of The Celebrity Wedding
At this time of year, the races is the hot topic of conversation, with the attention of many women across the country turning to piecing together the perfect outfit. However, there is also another social event this season that promises to bring with it just as much glamour and excitement as any Best Dressed Lady event, and that is the celebrity wedding! With some of the country’s most high profile stars preparing to take a trip down the aisle this year, RSVP have decided to find out more about the plans and preparations for this year’s most eagerly anticipated celebrity weddings. Here are some of our favourite famous faces who will be saying “I do!” in the coming months!
Karen Koster and John McGuire
Xposé beauty Karen Koster was ecstatic when boyfriend of four years John McGuire popped the question last year during a romantic trip to Italy. Despite the couple being in a long-term relationship, the presenter had no idea he was planning the gesture, admitting to the Irish Daily Star at the time that “He totally floored me. I thought I knew him better than this but he’s a lot better at keeping secrets than I thought!” Karen and John are set to travel to Sicily this June for an intimate wedding with just family and close friends. After over four years reporting on the hottest fashions for Xposé, we imagine that Karen will be one seriously stylish bride!
Virginia Macari and Kaste Dahl
If the last season of Dublin Wives was anything to go by, brunette beauty Virginia Macari could well be the star of the show, thanks to her engagement, which took place last summer in New York and was captured by the TV3 cameras. Virginia’s Norwegian fiancé, Kaste, popped the question last year in front of cameras and onlookers in Central Park and the romantic moment was aired during the most recent series of the Dublin-based reality show. The couple, whose son Thor was born in February 2012, are rumoured to be tying the knot this year, but have yet to set a date. Virginia has hinted that she wouldn’t object ... - RSVP Weddings: Genevieve Ritchie and John Paul Murphy
The sweeping hills of Tuscany in Italy provided the opulent and romantic backdrop for the wedding of Vancouver-born Genevieve Ritchie and Cork man John Paul Murphy.
The couple, who wed in Chiesa Di San Pietro in Bossolo, followed their candlelit ceremony with a breathtaking courtyard reception in the stunning surroundings of Castello il Palagio, a medieval castle dating back to the 13th century. Despite the pair choosing to marry far from home in the romantic Italian location, 92 guests travelled from all corners of the world to join them on their special day.
The bride made the most of her Stephanie Allin gown on the day by wearing it two different ways, replacing the intricate lace sleeves worn for the ceremony with capped chiffon sleeves and a diamante belt for the evening. Groom-to-be John Paul looked smart and sophisticated in a chic suit with white shirt and matching cravat.
With the magnificent location paired with a fabulous atmosphere, the couple revealed that on their wedding day, “every moment was better than the one before”. The newlyweds, who initially met after Genevieve saw her groom’s picture on Bebo and convinced mutual friend Niamh to introduce them, got engaged on their three year anniversary, when John Paul surprised his unsuspecting girlfriend with a proposal over a champagne breakfast in a London hotel.
Genevieve admitted that one of the most poignant moments of her engagement was that she got the chance to share the happy news with her grandfather just before he passed away.
- Matt Damon and Wife Luciana Renew Vows in Romantic Caribbean Ceremony
Matt Damon and his wife Luciana have renewed their wedding vows in an intimate and romantic ceremony in the Caribbean.
Matt and Luciana invited 50 people to the beachside wedding in St. Lucia. Matt looked smart but casual in a tan suit and white shirt along with a pair of brown sandals. His wife Luciana went for a more dramatic look which was in keeping with their tropical surroundings. She wore a Naeem Khan gown with a plunging neckline and waist detail. She also opted to wear sandals for the ceremony. Each of their four daughters also wore Khan creations.
The guests, which included Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Chris Hemsworth and Stanley Tucci, were all in keeping with the colour code of the ceremony wearing white or pale hued outfits, which created a stylish overall effect. After the ceremony they were treated to a beach cocktail reception with Tiki torches lighting the area.
Matt reportedly rented the whole of the Sugar Beach resort for the ceremony which allegedly cost him around $1 million. To keep the second wedding a secret, Matt and Luciana apparently used an alias. According to one staff member “The hotel was booked under a different name to Damon. We were told that it was a Mr. and Mrs. Naff getting married. We then heard that it was Matt Damon and they had been using a false name to stop their secret being found out. He was here two months ago to have a look around. A big yacht moored by the beach and he came into the resort.”
- Matt Damon and Wife Luciana Renew Vows
They famously had a no frills wedding 2005 – tying the knot in a basic ceremony at New York City Hall. And it seems their lavish wedding vow renewal went off without a hitch as Matt Damon and his wife grinned like a pair of newlyweds the day after their romantic Caribbean ceremony as they went for a stroll on the white sands. Matt was seen carrying a suit bag while his beaming wife wrapped up in a casual bathrobe in the luxurious surroundings.
The 42-year-old actor and Argentine-born Luciana Barroso, 36, are said to have enjoyed a star-studded celebration at the Sugar Beach resort in St. Lucia on Saturday. Thor actor Chris Hemsworth was seen with his wife Elsa Pataky leaving the location on Sunday. They were spotted among a selection of celebrity guests at the airport on the Caribbean island as was talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and his fiancé Molly McNearney.
Apparently they were some of only 50 lucky people who got invitations to watch the nuptials. The group were seen unloading their things from various cars before boarding the private aircraft provided by the hosts. Matt and Luciana exchanged vows under thatched roofs at sunset, ‘with the groom wearing a tan-coloured suit and flip-flops, and the bride donning a cream-coloured gown featuring a sequined belt at the waist.’ Light hues seemed to be the theme for the gathering with attended asked to don cream and ivory for the 15-minute vows. Following the words, those present were escorted to a beach cocktail reception with Tiki torches lighting up the area.
People magazine reported that ‘Children were running around and playing with white parasols’ and the ceremony still managed to remain serene. Matt wed Luciana in a small no-fuss ceremony in 2005 at New York’s City Hall, but they never had a big wedding. The couple have gone on to raise four beautiful daughters together, Isabella, six, Gia, four, two-year-old Stella, and Luciana’s daughter Alexia, 14, from a previous relationship.
The Promised Land star reportedly rented out the entire hotel for the weekend’s festivities, which cost him around $1 million. It’s said ... - Christine Bleakley and Frank Lampard Postpone Wedding
They were due to get married in June of this year after getting engaged in the same month back in 2011. But according to reports Christine Bleakley and Frank Lampard have been forced to put their wedding on hold. The decision has been made due to the uncertainty about the football player’s future.
A source close to the Dancing On Ice host told the paper: ‘She and Frank really want to get married- they have been engaged for nearly two years. ‘But they thought as they have very little idea of where they could end up the best thing was to cancel. ‘They knew exactly what sort of wedding they wanted and everyone was looking forward to it but now it’s just impossible. They will start thinking about it again when they know which club Frank will be playing at. Everything’s so up in the air.’
The 34-year-old footballer, who currently plays for Chelsea and England hasn’t made a decision about where he will be moving next. So far it’s thought he has been scouted by LA Galaxy and David Beckham’s current team Paris Saint Germain, as well as AC Milan. Back in December of last year the 34-year-old TV presenter had revealed that she would be getting married sometime this year. It’s believed that in preparation for that they had picked a venue, decided a guest list and even decided against selling it to a magazine.
But while their wedding may be on hold for the time being the couple’s relationship is clearly going strength from strength. Just this week the couple were seen enjoying a family meal with his two daughters following his football win. Christine looked more than comfortable playing step-mum to Luna and Isla, his daughters from his relationship with Elen Rivas.
- ‘Coronation Street’ Star Helen Worth Ties the Knot in London
Coronation Street star Helen Worth got married in London earlier today. Helen, who plays Gail Platt on the soap, wore an elegant silver dress to the ceremony at St. James’ Church in Piccadilly where she married her music teacher boyfriend Trevor Dawson.
62-year-old Helen was greeted by a huge crowd who cheered her on as she made her made her way to the church. She looked lovely in a unique silver satin gown which featured lace arms and neck. She accompanied the dress with a pair of ivory heels. As she made her way to the entrance of the church she was clutching a small bouquet of flowers and carrying the train of the dress herself.
Trevor, 55, made sure to arrive earlier in the afternoon and took the time to have his photo taken before entering the church.
The pair had been dating for a little over a year before announcing their engagement in April 2012. They made the announcement when Helen opened a fair that was taking place at the primary school where Trevor works.
Several of Helen’s Coronation Street co-stars were in attendance.

- Jesse James Marries for the Fourth Time
He’s had a string of failed marriage, but that didn’t stop Jesse James and his fourth bride from pulling out all the stops. Sandra Bullock’s ex-husband married Alexis Dejoria in a very extravagant and expensive affair in Malibu on Sunday.
However, it’s hardly surprising that the serial cheat’s wedding to the drag car racer was a pricey affair. After all her father is John Paul Dejoria, co-founder of the Paul Mitchell hair care products line and Patron Spirits Company. In new aerial shots of the flashy nuptials, held at Jon Paul’s sprawling Malibu property, Jesse is seen standing at an altar adorned with huge bouquets of pink, purple and white flowers.
Meanwhile, for her big day Alexis walked up the aisle wearing a traditional white dress adorned with a black embroidered floral design. The strapless attire featured a large train and also showed off her collection of arm tattoos. The 35-year-old also donned a huge white veil, wore diamond drop earrings in her ears and carried a bouquet of lilac and white roses. Jesse was suited and booted in a black suit, white shirt and black tie.
Alexis’s bridesmaids carried on the purple theme by slipping into floor length strapless gowns featuring flowing silky skirts. And her flower girls, Jesse’s youngest daughter Sonny, nine, and Alexis’ ten-year-old daughter Bella, also wore the colour lilac in the form of cute ruffled dresses. During their vows, the couple exchanged Neil Lane rings in front of a minister.
The nuptials were watched by numerous friends and family members, including the bride’s father John Paul and his wife Eloise Broady, who also slipped into an extravagant embroidered gown. And it appears that Jesse gets along famously with his in-laws, as he was seen cuddling up to them for happy snaps following the ceremony. Jesse and Alexis also snuggled up together as they toasted their nuptials with several glasses of champagne. And the notorious bad boy planted several kisses on his new wife as he wrapped his arm around her waist. The couple tied the knot after only dating for around seven months.
It was rumoured that Jesse had the audacity to invite his ... - Jen Aniston and Justin Theroux to Wed Twice
Jennifer Aniston and fiancé, Justin Theroux, are reportedly planning two weddings, one in New York and another in California.
Friends of the couple say they plan to celebrate their marriage in both locations, with ‘his and hers’ events.
A source told Grazia magazine:
“Justin grew up in New York, most of his family are on the East Coast, so rumour is that after ‘Jen’s wedding’ in California, there will be something in New York. There’s certainly going to be a wedding party on the East Coast. It might not even be until the summer, but Justin has taken charge of his side of the organisation and is really getting into it. He’s arranging live music and the theme is going to be very rock ‘n’ roll.”
While Justin’s is rumoured to be more of a party affair, friends of the couple have hinted that Jen’s will be more on the romantic side:
”Jen wants it to be really relaxed and quite classic. it will be traditional.”
The pair are also thought to have agreed to divide their time between the East and the West coast once they are married.
A source added:
“Jen knows how much Justin misses New York. So she’s conceded that once they’re married they can buy something there.”
Although Jennifer has previously bought a house in New York only to sell it months later claiming she didn’t take to the city, Justin has been spotted looking at properties with his brother, Sebastian.
A friend said:
“Justin was house hunting with his brother. He looked around a converted former police station – he wants Jen to feel safe in their New York pad.”
- The Wedding of Fiona O’Leary and James Clark When Corkonian Fiona O’Leary met British-born James Clark almost 10 years ago, she had no idea that she was meeting her husband-to-be. James, who was planning on returning home to the UK after spending a few months with family in Cork, had a change of heart after getting to know Fiona and decided to make a permanent move to Irish shores. This romantic gesture paid off, as nine years later Fiona agreed to marry her beau following a surprise cliff top proposal made against the picturesque setting of Robert’s Cove. The couple’s wedding was beautiful and traditional from start to finish. The bride made a jaw-dropping entrance in a full-length, ivory lace dress by Charlotte Babier from Memories Bridal Boutique, and with her vintage embroidered veil with a blush for over the face, she resembled something from a fairytale. Over 120 guests joined the bride and groom at the ceremony, including James’ family and friends who travelled from the UK to be a part of the couple’s special day. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds took advantage of the glorious sunshine by getting some memorable snaps within the beautiful surroundings of Charles Fort in Kinsale. However, the rare spell of sunny weather had its drawbacks, with some of the bridesmaids getting sunburnt as they posed for pictures! Fiona, James and the bridal party then joined their guests for a fabulous reception at the Oriel House Hotel and Spa where the celebrations continued into the early hours. After the wedding, the couple enjoyed three weeks in Hawaii and New York and described their honeymoon as “the best holiday of our lives.”
- The Wedding of Laura Daly and Shane O’Mahony A stroll through a picturesque forest and an engagement ring from Tiffany’s were the key ingredients for a perfect proposal for Laura Daly and Shane O’Mahony. Laura was completely taken by surprise when Shane, her boyfriend of over 7 years, popped the question at one of their favourite scenic spots just outside of Killarney. Her elation failed to subside even when they returned to Shane’s car to find that it had broken down! The couple, who have been an item since they met at an Irish College leader’s reunion in 2005, chose their hometown of Cork as the setting for their wedding. Over 125 guests arrived at The Cathedral of St Mary and St Anne in Shandon to enjoy the bride and groom’s special day. Laura, who wore an Alfred Angelo ‘Sleeping Beauty’ dress from Cinderella’s Closet, made quite an entrance in her princess-style gown, complete with full, flowing skirt and diamante and flower detail on the bodice. Her bridesmaids also looked vibrant in quirky prom dresses in bright blue and red. However, the bride had to endure a minor wardrobe malfunction after the ceremony, when a strong gust of wind on what was a particularly blustery day blew the veil off of her head! But normal service was resumed immediately after and Laura, Shane and their guests went on to enjoy a fabulous reception at the Carlton Hotel in Kinsale! Reflecting on their own special day, the newlyweds were full of excitement and memorable stories, with Laura offering some wise words of advice to future brides, saying “Enjoy your day but remember it’s the rest of your lives together that count!” Photography by Michael John O’Mahony
- The Wedding of Joanne Grogan and Colm Brennan From childhood sweethearts to husband and wife, it seems that Kildare couple Joanne Grogan and Colm Brennan were most certainly meant to be. Following a meeting through mutual friends during their school days, Joanne and Colm instantly connected and 10 years after their initial encounter, decided to make their love official by tying the knot in front of their closest friends and relatives. The wheels were set in motion for their big day after Colm planned an extremely romantic proposal for the love of his life, popping the question in the Big Apple while they took in the sights on a horse drawn carriage. Swept away by such a gesture, Joanne accepted and the planning began! The couple were joined by 144 guests on their wedding day, which began with an intimate ceremony in the church in Kilcock, Co. Kildare. The bridal party upped the style stakes in vibrant royal blue, but it was the bride who stole the show. Wearing an ivory, fishtail gown accessorised with a jewel-encrusted tiara and elegant pearl jewellery, Joanne shone as she walked down the aisle to meet her husband-to-be. The bride’s dress was customised by a delicate halter-style strap, added by dressmaker Mary Keenan, who also worked her magic on the alterations for the bridesmaids and flower girls. A reception at Finnstown Country House Hotel in Lucan followed the ceremony, where guests were treated to luxurious surroundings in a picturesque setting. Photography by Eva Power
- The Wedding of Tracie McMahon and Jason Lyons It’s a wonderful testament to a long-term relationship – 12 years long to be exact – to be able to say that you are happier together than you have ever been. This was the case with Limerick couple Tracie McMahon and Jason Lyons, who were recently delighted to become man and wife after over a decade spent together. Although the proposal was more of a decision to make things official rather than a grand gesture, the couple’s wedding day was filled with romance, love and most importantly, family and friends. Tracie and Jason wed in a civil ceremony at Castleoaks House Hotel in Castleconnell, Co. Limerick in what can only be described as a family affair! Brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends made up the bridal party who surrounded the bride and groom as they said their vows, and the couple’s two young daughters Abbie and Lucy acted as proud flowergirls for their parents’ nuptials. The blushing bride wore a beautifully traditional gown from Seroca Bridal in Lisnagry, which had a soft sweetheart neckline and A-line skirt complete with pleating and a chapel train. Once they had officially tied the knot, the newlyweds did not have far to go to resume the second part of their big day. The wedding reception also took place at Castleoaks, where the needs of the bride and groom and their 100 guests were looked after with great attention and efficiency by the hotel’s staff and management. After their wedding, the couple spent their first holiday abroad without their kids, enjoying a luxurious week-long honeymoon in Malta. Photography by Rose Baker of Baker Photography
- The Wedding of Hilary Stephenson and Kieran Donaghy RSVP loves a glamorous wedding and three-time All-Ireland winner Kieran Donaghy along with his beautiful bride Hilary Stephenson certainly brought the glamour factor on their big day! Kieran and Hilary, who both grew up in Tralee, tied the knot recently in front of 300 guests at St Finian’s Church in Waterville, Co. Kerry. The beautiful bride, who fashionably arrived half an hour late, wowed onlookers in an ivory, fish-tail gown which she stylishly covered with a matching stole after the ceremony to avoid the winter chill. Her overall look was topped off perfectly with loose, 1920s-style curls. Hilary’s four bridesmaids complimented her look in chic black dresses, accessorised with bouquets of pink roses. Kieran also rose to the occasion, looking dapper in his coat and tails as he was joined in the church by his groomsmen and former teammates, Michael Quirke, Tommy Griffin and Daniel Bohane – not forgetting his equally dressed-up dogs Ruby, Holly and Buddy! Both Hilary and Kieran, who have been friends since their teenage years, were joined on their wedding day by family and friends and a string of their sporting pals, including Paul Galvin and Louise Duffy, Kerry captain Eoin Brosnan and his wife Mary, Killian Young, Bryan Sheehan and former GAA commentator Micheal O’Mhuircheartaigh and his wife Helena. The newlyweds and their guests continued the celebrations with a reception at the picturesque Sneem Hotel. Photography by Don MacMonagle
- Sam Branson Marries Isabella Calthorpe
It is not often you see the groom dressed in white, but when you are Sir Richard Branson’s son and your wedding has been dubbed ‘the nearly Royal wedding’ of the year, anything is allowed.
Sam Branson married his actress wife Isabella Calthorpe, whose sister is Cressida Bona’s, Prince Harry’s latest squeeze, at a South African game reserve. No expense was spared, the location of their vows was beneath a sacred tree on a hill overlooking Sir Richard’s private game reserve Ulusaba, on the edge of the Kruger National park, how very romantic.
There was an impressive guest list which included Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Isabella’s youngest sister Cressida Bonas, TV presenter Professor Brian Cox and singer Natalie Imbruglia.
The bride looked stunning in a lace confection by Monique Lhuillier, while Sam wore a white three-piece suit complete with satin lapels and a white tie.
The wedding which was sold to Hello magazine, because they clearly needed someone to pay for it was special to both Sam and Isabelle for many reasons. Speaking about the venue, Sam who is heir to the £3.4billion Virgin fortune said
‘There’s something about being so close to nature that just makes you feel alive,’ Sam told the magazine.
‘You’re connected to nature at its most raw; you’re in the animals’ environment and you’re very aware of that, and that’s what’s so exciting about the place.’
To me, going on safari is one of the most incredible experiences you can have,’ said 33-year-old Isabella, who is known to pals as Bellie.
‘So, for our families and friends to be able to share in something we love so much as part of our wedding celebrations is wonderful.’
Princess Beatrice said of the ceremony: ‘The ceremony was so emotional and beautiful. Sam did so well not crying – but none of the rest of us can say the same. There was hardly any point in wearing make-up.’
