RSVP’s One to Watch: Sinead Carroll/Yummy Mummy
In this weeks One to Watch, Sinead Carroll of Yummy Mummy Fashion and Lifestyle blog chats to RSVP’s Mikie O’Loughlin,
Tell us about yourself…
My name is Sinéad Carroll I’m 37, originally from Roscommon but have been living in Galway with my husband and 3 children for the past 12 years. I have over 16 years experience in the Financial Services Industry and currently work full-time in Banking. My degree is in Financial Services from Dublin Business School and I am also a Qualified Financial Advisor. Over the years I have completed various other courses including a Diploma in Computer Applications, Certificate in Office Information Systems and Secretarial Studies, FETAC Level 5 Digital Marketing.
How long have you been blogging and how did you get started?
I have been blogging for almost 2 years. I have always had a passion for fashion and a keen interest in Beauty, with the qualifications of a Beauty Therapist also under my belt. This combination allows me to blog weekly about my favourite beauty product, fashion inspiration and lifestyle. Being a busy mom of three and working full time, it can be difficult to find the time to fit in blogging but when the kids are in bed I make the most of the hour or two each night. I’m most productive in the morning so before I leave the house for my 9 – 5 job I catch up on emails, social media etc.
Is it something that you have always wanted to do?
I have to admit I didn’t know what a blog was 2 years ago! When my baby turned 3 I felt like I need another outlet in my life to network and express my creative side. So one day I goggled how to set up a blog and it started from there.
What have the highlights been so far?
There have been a number of highlights so far but the most recent one that stands out is being a finalist in two categories in Online Marketing in Galway Awards (OMiG Awards 2015) last month. I made the top 5 in the best blog category and top 10 in The People’s Choice Awards. It was a great honour to be included among some of Galway’s finest Online Marketers and being recognised for my efforts was an amazing feeling.
Have you anything exciting things coming up in the pipeline?
A year ago I founded Into The West Blogger Network, a network for Bloggers in Ireland to connect, share, learn and network. Together with my Business Partner Saibh Egan we host quarterly events in the West of Ireland which are attended by bloggers from all over the country. We are hosting our 5th event and celebrating our first birthday party in the 5 star g Hotel Galway this Sunday the 10th May. It’s going to be an amazing day, both educational and fun with a super line up of guest speakers and exhibitors. We are very excited about it but are also planning our September event already which is set to be even bigger and better.
We are also rolling out #itwbnBlogSchool on the 18th May 2015 with our first WordPress Workshop taking place in the Connacht Hotel, Galway. We are so excited to have teamed up with local tech company Educated Machine to deliver these Blogging Workshops. You can book your place today by emailing email@example.com
What are your hobbies and interests outside of blogging and fashion?
I really have little or no time for hobbies or interests outside of blogging and fashion at the moment. But I do hope to make a little more time for exercise and fitness before the year is out. It’s on my to-do-list.
Do you find it hard to juggle everything?
Yes, I find it very hard to juggle everything. I have so many to-do-lists and I’m a huge fan of the wall planner. However, I’m extremely lucky that my husband is so hands on with the kids and is totally supportive of my blogging so everything seems to fall into place (well most of the time)!!!
