CAREER

Your path into the industry…

I’ve always been a very creative person, makeup was a way for me to express my creativity. I used to suffer with Insomnia when I was younger, so I used to stay up painting my face late at night. I think that was the moment I realized I really wanted to get into makeup. I’m a self taught artist, so I’ve never completed any major courses. I usually get inspired by the people I surround myself with and fellow artists I work with. Ive worked for some big cosmetic companies in the past, I then went on to work full time for myself freelancing. I now work as the Regional Trainer for Inglot cosmetics, while freelancing in my spare time.

Your greatest achievement…

I’m truly grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been given, This year has been a really exciting year for me so far. I was nominated for RSVP’s Makeup artist of the year. I was also nomianted for Makeup artist of the year for the MSL Irish fashion awards.Of course landing my Dream Job for Inglot Cosmetics as Regional trainer & I also started teaching my very own Makeup courses in New Minds beauty academy in Cork, its amzing how rewarding it is to be able to share your knowledge and passion with people who have similar interests.

FASHION

Your style…

My personal style usually reflects my current mood. I’m a huge fan of fashion so there are times I love getting glammed up but there are other times when I love being able to lounge around in my traksuit and runners. I tend to wear a lot of black, when working as well as when I go on a night out. You will never catch me without having my nails done, they are essential in my book. When I’m working I will always wear heels, and I’d never go out for the night with my favourite heels on either. I will always have a few staples in the wardrobe. I tend to own a lot of leather and I always get really excited around this time of year as I can break out my Faux Fur coats. My next Investment is definitely going to be a Scribe of London suit.
Your style icons…

I don’t really have any specific style icons but am very observant and often take influence from people I see on the street. I have to admit I do love the London style, I will often go visit a few times a year to get my fashion fix. I find bloggers on Instagram absolutely amazing, I love how the mix different styles and make it work.
Your favourite piece…

I have picked up a few gems on my travels, I love buying pieces while I’m abroad as I usually like to be a little different. Its not my own piece, but I recently wore a dress by Tom Oliver Design to an awards ceremony, and it was absolutely to die for. I also bought an evening dress in Soho new york for my debs, many moons ago. I’m still in love with it and pull it out every so often.

BEAUTY

Your skincare routine…

I’m a little obsessed with my skin. Beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin so I will never go bed to bed with my makeup on no matter what time it is. My skin is extremely dry and sensitive and I also have psoriasis so I usually have to be careful what I use on my skin. I use coconut oil on my skin every morning and quite often at night. I also recently picked up a clarisonic, so I’ve been using that with a Clarins foaming face wash.

Your favourite products…

Deep down I’m a little Inglot addict. As I mentioned earlier my skin is really dry, so I love creating dewy skin. So I’m in Love with Inglot’s Face & Body Illuminator #65, I often buff this into my skin or mix it in with my Foundation to add that extra glow. Also Inglots sparkle dust, which is a highlighter. I usually use no 2 and add shade no 3 on top to highlight my cheekbones.

LIFE

Your ‘me’ time…

I have quite a hectic schedule, any time I get to myself you will usually find me in an airport somewhere. I absolutely love travelling, so I will always try squeeze in a little break where I can. Other than that I’m obsessed with Instagram, I love uploading my makeup pics on my page (sarahcummins.mua) and that is also where I love sourcing some inspiration whether it be makeup, fashion, fitness or food.

Your hobbies…

I spend a lot of time travelling with my work, so whenever I do get a chance and am finally back home I head straight to the gym to squeeze in a quick workout. I also love getting out for a quick run, I completed the Cork city marathon this year and last year while raising money for Haematology & Leukemia research.

Your favourite restaurant…

I’m a big foodie….I don’t think I could narrow it down to one restaurant!

Your favourite holiday destination…

I’m recently just back from an amazing trip to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. This was definitely a trip of a lifetime, we met some amazing people on our travels. I went to LA with no expectations & I fell in love with the city and the amazing shopping. I also Visited Toronto in the summer to catch up with some friends. As I used to live there and made some amazing friends, Toronto will always hold a place in my heart.

Your stress-busting tip…

Out for a quick run in the rain, there’s no better feeling……it’s such a great way to clear your head. Or if i’m feeling really lazy, I do love a sneaky glass of wine with friends.

HOME

Your style…

I love white, clean, chic. If I could have the whole house white I would. I definitely love a little bit more of a modern twist to the home. I love lanterns and candles…..I love creating that relaxing ambience.

Your favourite piece…

My favourite piece in my house wouldn’t be a piece of furniture. My mom passed away two years ago from Leukemia and she used to make wedding cakes, so I have a few of her wedding cakes still in the house which I love. I also have this quote I painted on my wall years ago that I look at every now and again when I need some inspiration “I have had dreams & I have had nightmares, but I have conquered my nightmares because of my dreams”
