More Shocking Details Have Emerged About Kym Owens Attack
According to The Irish Independent, Gardai are “deeply concerned” that 18-year-old Kym Owens will not be able to give them the key information they need to catch her attacker.
The Maynooth University student, who remains in the intensive care unit of Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown, has not yet given a statement to gardai.
According to the publication, last night, a senior source said detectives fear the teenager may have no memory of the brutal attack on Sunday night last week.
Gardai are waiting for doctors at the hospital to give them permission to talk to the student, from Castleblayney, Co Monaghan.
‘‘It is a matter of deep concern to us that Kim may not remember exactly what happened on the night of the attack,” a senior source said last night.
“This is common enough in cases like this. She suffered a terrible ordeal”.
“Whatever she does remember, if anything, may prove absolutely crucial to solving this horrific crime, but we will not be talking to her until she is ready.”
Kym was viciously beaten while walking to her digs on the Moyglare Abbey Estate, Maynooth after getting off a private bus that had travelled from Monaghan.
Gardai are still investigating the possibility that her attacker may have been among the other 52 people on the bus.
