A significant amount of wreckage has reportedly been recovered from the missing Irish coast guard helicopter this evening.

According to Breaking News.ie, The Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) has released a statement saying they have rescued a significant amount of debris from the R116.

The AAIU, stated that it was too early to determine a cause for the crash, however revealed that the marks on the debris found were consistent with the tail of the aircraft contacting rocky surfaces on the Western end of Blackrock.

It has been almost a week since the helicopter went missing, with three of the crew still unaccounted for.

Captain Dara Fitzpatrick was recovered from the water, in the hours after the helicopter went missing, however she was pronounced dead hours later and was laid to rest  this weekend.
