It’s been revealed that if you sleep in your underwear, you should really consider stopping with researchers claiming that it may be bad for your health.

According to the NHS, sleeping in your underwear could affect your fertility and put you at risk of infection, as

“wearing tight clothing or synthetic clothing (such as nylon underwear) prevents ventilation.”

When you sleep naked, your body naturally regulates its own temperature making you less likely to sweat.

According to The Sun, for men, sleeping in tight underwear can impact their fertility with research from the University of Sheffield and the University of Manchester finding that tight-fitting underwear had huge impacts on fertility.

Those who wore loose boxers were found to have a higher-quality sperm count with gynaecology expert, Dr Alyssa Dweck, telling the publication:

“I often tell my patients to sleep without underwear. If (the area) is constantly covered – especially by a fabric that’s not moisture-wicking or absorbent – moisture collects, creating the perfect breeding ground for bacteria or yeast.”
