Spa Spy: The Spa at Muckross Park Hotel
As hotel stays and spa pampering breaks go, I recently enjoyed one that in my experience, would be hard to beat. It was a rainy Saturday morning when I set out for the Muckross Park Hotel & Spa in Killarney for a one-night stay at the luxurious property. When we arrived at Muckross Park, it soon became apparent that the term ‘customer service’ is one that is clearly understood and its practice highly adhered to in this hotel. From the moment we stepped inside its impressive doors, every member of staff from the concierge to the restaurant manager to the bar attendants could not have been more friendly and accommodating.
After enjoying a leisurely afternoon tea in The Monk’s Lounge, where a variety of dietary requirements were well catered for, we made our way to our suite to settle in. The room was spacious and comfortable and provided the perfect haven for a rainy summer’s day. It was a case of hopping from one relaxing haven to another as we made our way from the suite to the Spa at Muckross Park Hotel, donned in our finest robes and slippers!
After speaking with Head Therapist Sabrina Lucey, I was intrigued to try the new Pevonia range that the spa had just introduced. For two hours, my therapist worked her magic on my back, shoulders and face, with both an Aromatic Moor Mud Back Ritual and a Deep Pore Cleansing Facial, banishing any tension from my muscles and clearing my face of clogged pores and dull skin. And it wasn’t just the treatments that lulled me into a completely tranquil state; the vitality suite at the hotel is not only impressive in decor, but it also offers a number of relaxation outlets, such as an outdoor hot tub, a salt grotto and a steam room to name but a few.
A relaxing day at the hotel was topped off by a delicious meal in The Yew Tree restaurant that evening, where we enjoyed a fabulous fine dining experience. Although we opted for the a la carte menu on the night, the hotel also offers an eight-course tasting menu that looks like a promising choice for any food enthusiast! After a few drinks at the hotel bar, it was off to bed for a very relaxing night’s sleep indeed! The verdict: A five star stay at five star hotel.
