Surprise Surprise is Set to Be Axed for Good
We’re going to miss it so much!
Surprise Surprise is one of the top ITV shows set to be axed for good by TV bosses
A raft of ITV entertainment shows will be “rested” for a while, and possibly for ever, according to The Mirror
They include Surprise, Surprise, fronted by Holly Willoughby, and Vernon Kay’s Family Fortunes which have not been on telly since last year and will not get screen-time in 2016.
Surprise Surprise was originally hosted by Cilla Black.
Its premise involved surprising members of the public with long-held wishes, setting up tricks to fool members of the public, prank calls to people and reuniting guests with long-lost loved ones – Sob!
An insider told the Mirror: “By 2018 it’s unlikely that any of these formats from yesteryear will still be on the screen.
“It’s time to try out new stuff and everyone is very excited about what’s in the pipeline.”
The news is certain to disappoint fans of the classic shows, but there is some good news too.
The talent, including Holly Willoughby, will remain part of the “ITV family” of presenters and will be signed up to front some brand new programs.
According to the Mirror, Holly has already been lined up to front new dating series Meet the Parents, in which singletons go on blind dates with the mums and dads of potential partners.
We’re gutted that Surprise Surprise will be no more, but we have to admit, we really like the sounds of this new dating show…
