When looking for the perfect venue for your big day, you can easily be overwhelmed by all the finer details. Whether you already have an idea of the type of wedding you're looking for or you're literally starting from scratch, be prepared by bringing a list of questions you want answered by your potential venue. Unsure what you should be asking? Take note of our list of must-ask essentials to help make your venue-hunt as stress-free as possible!

First things first:

What are the minimum and maximum number of guests you can cater for?

Do you have the date we want free?

What is your rental fee and what does that include?

Do you allow more than one wedding per day? If so, how are they kept separate?

Do you have a wedding package? What is included? Are you flexible on price and inclusions? (they always are so bargain)

How much is the deposit and when is it due?

How close to the wedding would you need to provide final guest attendance numbers?

Do you have your own wedding coordinator? Is this included in the price?

Can you hold a civil ceremony?

If renting a private venue, what do you need to hire? (remember the finer details here, wine glasses, chairs, tables, tablecloths, napkins)

The Reception:

What time will guests have to leave the venue?

Where is the dance floor and how big is it?

Where will the band and/or DJ set up?

Can we hire our own vendors?

What time does the wedding have to finish at?

Accommodation:

Do you have a honeymoon suite? Is it complimentary?

Are there a minimum number of guests who have to book accommodation?

How many rooms does the venue have?

Are there other accommodation options located nearby for other guests?

What price is it per room per night?

Decor:

What decor is included in the price and provided by the hotel? (Chair covers, table centrepieces, menus etc)

What type of tables do you have? (Top table, round tables or rectangular tables)

Will there be somebody there on the day to announce the bride and groom?

Do you charge corkage?

Is there a cake cutting fee?

Is there a menu tasting?

Will there be a drinks reception? What does this include?

What time is the meal served?

Are the menu prices flexible per head?

Does the restaurant cater for special dietary requirements?

Is there a late evening menu option?

Is there a bar extension option, how much does it cost?

Other questions:

Do you have an indoor alternative if you are planning an outdoor drinks reception/dinner and the weather lets you down?

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Is there car parking spaces provided for all guests?

Can a coach be hired to take guests to nearby hotels to stay?

What is your cancellation policy?
