Video: Carlow Teenager Raises Enough Money For Last Chance Cancer Treatment
It has been a whirlwind few days for Carlow teenager Shauntelle Tynan, after she posted an emotional, touching video online asking for help.
The 18-year-old needed to raise funds for a specialist treatment in Texas Children’s Hospital in her battle against a rare cancer, multi-system Langheran’s cell histiocytosis. She did not qualify for government funding because she is seeking treatment in the US.
Yesterday, Shauntelle took to her YouTube channel to not only thank and tell the public her good news but to also share her joy with siblings Stephen (10) and Sophie (6) that she has raised €620k and they only needed €500.
Writing on Facebook, Shauntelle wrote
“I will never be able to express just how thankful I am, as this Valentine’s Day I didn’t just receive a teddy or a card, but the chance of life!”
