30 Manchester United fans electrocuted while watching Europa League clash
More than 30 Manchester United fans have been electrocuted while watching the club’s latest Europa League clash.
The tragic accident took place at a viewing centre in Calabar, the Cross River capital, in Nigeria on Thursday.
According to the Mirror, 30 Manchester United fans were electrocuted when a cable fell on them.
Reports by local media stated that no fewer than 30 fans died. However, police said seven died and 11 more were being treated in local hospitals, according to the BBC.
Manchester United paid tribute to those killed on social media stating:
“Our thoughts go out to the United fans, their friends and families affected by the tragedy in Calabar, Nigeria, yesterday.”
