1. Choose your companions wisely

It's great to have trusted opinions with you on the day of your dress fitting, but too many and you’ll lose sight of what YOU like.

2. What you think is your dream dress might not live up to what you expect when you try it on

So you've always imagined yourself walking down the aisle in a princess gown but when you finally try it, the dress just doesn't suit you. You’re only going to do this once and you may surprise yourself by choosing something completely different than what you thought you wanted.

3. You'll try on hundreds and hundreds of dresses before you find "the one"

Don't feel ashamed if you've tried on more than ten dresses. You're one step closer to finding the one.

4. Underwear can drastically change the look of a dress

Make sure your underwear is the correct size, it's amazing what the correct bra size can do! Try a nude or white strapless bra and matching pants.

5. Do NOT wear instant tan before your appointment

This one is a given, you don't want to destroy the dresses you try on. If you're a typical Irish bride with pale skin, apply tinted moisturiser or gradual tan a few days before the appointment.

6. Wear more makeup than usual

Harsh lighting in the fitting room can wash out your skin and ruin how you feel about the dress. Do yourself a favour and wear a touch more makeup than usual, you’ll look more like you will on your wedding day.

7. Try on a dress your mother/father/sibling/grandparent (you get it) recommends, even if you hate it

Nothing will make them happier than seeing you in a dress they always imagined you in - they've been looking forward to this day too. Either they'll see you were right about the dress, or you may shock yourself by loving it - it's a win win.

8. It'll be a few days before the wedding and you're going to ANOTHER fitting

You'll be glad you spent so much time and money getting the dress just perfect

9. You'll never want to take the dress off after the wedding

The dress will be everything you wanted and more!
