Australian Woman Shot Dead By US Police at Her Home After Making 911 Call
An Australian woman was reportedly shot dead by US police in Minnesota after she made a 911 call to report a disturbance.
The 40-year-old was allegedly in her pajamas when the incident occurred as she approached police officers in her driveway.
According to the Mail Online, officers arrived at her home at around 11.30pm when ‘one officer fired their weapon, fatally striking the woman’.
Originally from Sydney, Justine Ruszczyk was due to be married to her American fiancé Don Damon and had been living in the States for three years. Her husband-to-be was away his Zon at the time of the shooting.
Speaking to a local activist group, her soon-to-be stepson said,
‘Basically, my mum’s dead because a police officer shot her for reasons I don’t know,’ Zach Damond said.
‘I demand answers. If anybody can help, just call police and demand answers. I’m so done with all this violence. It’s so much bulls**t. America sucks.
‘She was a very passionate woman, she thought something bad was happening – and next thing you know they take my best friend’s life.’
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said an investigation was in its early stages and both police officers involved have taken paid leave.
