Baby daughter of The Voice star dies after accident involving runaway Range Rover
The baby daughter of a star of BBC’s ‘The Voice’ has been killed in a freak accident involving a runaway Range Rover.
One-year-old Pearl Black was coming back from a local park with dad Paul when they were hit by the car, according to The Mirror.
Toddler Pearl died after being flown to hospital by helicopter, while Paul suffered serious injuries.
Police believe the handbrake on the unoccupied Range Rover failed and it gathered speed down a steep hill.
Pearl would have been two next month.
Singer Paul, from Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, appeared on The Voice in 2014.
His wife Gemma, 37, was said to be “devastated” by the accident at 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: “We can confirm officers responded to an emergency call at an address in Heolgerrig, Merthyr Tydfil.
“A female child was taken to hospital by air ambulance after an incident involving a single vehicle understood to be unoccupied at the time.
“Tragically, the infant died shortly afterwards.”
Police accident investigators were examining the car and speaking to its owner.
