BBC Broadcaster Paddy O’Flaherty Passes Away

BBC broadcaster Paddy O’Flaherty has passed away.

The BBC have confirmed that Paddy died following a short illness on Monday at 73-years-old.


Paddy was known for hosting on BBC Radio Ulster, with presenter Noel Thompson announcing the news on Good Morning Ulster – as he paid tribute to the veteran broadcaster.
“He brought a big enthusiasm to every story and had the ability to turn even the most tedious story into the most fascinating.”
Chris Holt wrote: ”Radio Ulster broadcaster Paddy O’Flaherty has passed away. He came to my house to interview me when I was about 11; mesmerised by his voice”.
Chris Hagan wrote: ”Saddened to learn of the death of the doyen of Radio Ulster Paddy O’Flaherty”.
While Mike Nesbitt wrote: ‘‘Sad news. Paddy O’Flaherty. Great voice. Great journalist. Great man”.
