An elderly woman has died after being hit by a bus
An elderly woman has died after being hit by a bus in a tragic accident.
The 70-year-old was struck by the vehicle at a pedestrian crossing yesterday morning.
One onlooker claims that she “was dragged under the bus” during the fatal incident.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at Davidson’s Mains in Edinburgh, but she was pronounced dead a short time later.
According to The Sun, Inspector Stuart Mitchell of Drylaw Police Station said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family at this very difficult time and we continue to offer them support.
“Our enquiries into this collision are ongoing and we’d ask anyone who can help to come forward.
“Anyone who may have witnessed this collision and has not yet spoken to officers is urged to get in touch.”
The onlooker told the publication: “I was walking down the road to my work when I saw a female fall under the bus.
“At first I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, it was totally awful.
“People came to help and then the fire brigade turned up.
“The police just told us to go and wait in the street until they could speak to us.
“It was just such a horrible thing to witness.”
A full investigation has been launched by police and anyone with information is asked to come forward.
Diversions were put in place to facilitate an examination of the scene.
