The family of Michael Schumacher are embroiled in a serious court battle
The family of Michael Schumacher are embroiled in a serious court case three years after his skiing accident.
They are suing German newspaper Bunte for claiming that he can walk “a couple of steps”.
Legal action was taken against the publication after they shared a false front page story claiming “He can walk again.”
The seven-time F1 champion spent six months in a coma after a near fatal accident in the Alps back in 2013.
German publisher Spiegel Online reports that his family are looking for compensation of €100,000 euros following the article.
His lawyer Felix Damm told that court room that “he cannot walk” and was unable to stand.
Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm said: “Unfortunately, we are forced by a recent press report to clarify that the assertion that Michael could move again is not true.
“Such speculation is irresponsible because given the seriousness of his injuries, his privacy is very important for Michael.
“Unfortunately they also give false hopes to many involved people.”
The verdict has been postponed, but is expected to be announced on May 5, 2017.
