First victim of Irish Coast Guard helicopter crash dies
The first victim of the Irish Coast Guard helicopter crash has been named.
Female pilot Captain Dara Fitzpatrick has been named as the first victim.
According to the Irish Mirror, the Search and Rescue Operations Manager confirmed that she had been recovered from near the wreckage this morning but had been pronounced dead.
Three other crew members are still missing as the search continues.
Speaking on RTE Eugene Clonan said:
“It’s a dark day for the emergency services in Ireland, we recovered one person this morning in the search and we don’t hold out too much hope for that person. Also as the day moves on hopes are fading that we will find the rest of the crew.”
