Holly Willoughby has sparked a lot of debate after stating that babies can be raised vegan.

The TV presenter printed the advice in her book on how to wean your babies; "Truly Scrumptious Baby" goes against the advice of the UK's National Health Service who carefully offers the advice in relation to babies having a vegan diet.

In the book the mother of three writes: "Possible for a baby to get all the nutrients he needs from a vegan diet."

A vegan diet contains only plants which includes, vegetables, grains, nuts and fruits as well as foods that are plant based.

According to The Mirror, Holly does advise parents to get advice from a dietician and states that although she believes weaning your child to vegan diet is possible, it would require a lot more planning.

The NHS guidelines highlight the difficulties of your child having a vegan diet.

"A vegan diet can be bulky and high in fibre. This can mean that children get full up before they've taken in enough calories.

"Because of this, they may need extra supplements."

Holly has three children with her husband Dan and her youngest is two years old.
