Jahmene Douglas Shares Harrowing Message Revealing Suicidal Thoughts
Former X Factor star Jahmene Douglas has shared a long message about his battle with mental health issues.
The British soul and gospel singer, who was the runner-up to James Arthur on the ninth series of the X Factor, shared a statement opening up on having “suicidal thoughts”.
“I don’t know what to do any more. My mind is plagued with suicidal thoughts whenever my defences are down. I feel so broken, lost and worthless,” the 26-year-old wrote.
“It doesn’t seem to matter how much I try to fix myself, who I talk to or what I put in place. It always comes back to this.”
Jahmene goes on to say that he feels as if he “doesn’t deserve love or happiness” and that he feels “cursed in life”.
“I don’t know how much longer I can hold on for. I don’t know how much longer I can pretend for. The routine of a broken person,” he said.
Jahmene said he has been stopped from committing suicide because his brother, Daniel, took his own life.
“If I hadn’t lost my brother this way, the decision would be a lot quicker and easier to make. I don’t know what to do about it any more.”
He finished by writing: “All I am ever left with is the desire to die. I don’t want it, but I do. That’s the inner battle. I’m scared the next time I try I will succeed because I have nothing in place any more.”
After seeing the heartbreaking message, singer James Arthur reached out to show his support to Jahmene, asking him to pick up his phone so he can speak to him.
James, who has openly discussed his own battle with depression, said: “Brother I’m here for you. Answer your phone. I know what you’re going through. Pick up.”
Our thoughts are with Jahmene at this time………
