LATEST PICS: The Lir Academy’s Fundraising Dinner
The Lir invited the arts, business and theatre communities to come together and help raise funds for The Lir’s Education Bursary Scheme. The Bursary Scheme provides financial assistance to disadvantaged young people who demonstrate talent and potential but do not have the financial means to enroll as a student at The Lir at Trinity College Dublin.
Trocadero hosted a theatre-filled evening with guests hailing from Ireland’s arts and theatre communities such as Landmark Productions, Riverdance, Cork Midsummer, Galway’s Druid Theatre Company, Project Arts Centre, The Gate Theatre amongst others.
In the ideal surroundings of Trocadero, where The Lir’s graduates will one day adorn the restaurants photography-filled walls, students perform monologues and scenes throughout the restaurant while guests dine. A costume-runway showcases a vast selection of costumes created by leading costume-designers and designers in training and the evening ends in the only it should in Trocadero – in the Troc’s bar with some cabaret greats!
This is a wonderful evening bringing together generations of actors and theatre-makers who all believe in the importance of diversity in this sector. Now an annual event, it celebrates the talent and potential of Ireland’s next generation of theatre-makers as well as the production houses, festivals and theatres that brings this talent to a public stage.
