Met Éireann Issue Weather Warning for Three Counties Today


Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rain warning for three counties today.

The day looks set to be cold and miserable, with heavy showers and hail predicted for some parts of the country.

Heavy showers will merge into longer spells of rain in Donegal, Mayo and Sligo, according to the National Forecaster.


Rainfall of up to 35mm is expected and the warning is in place until 9pm tonight.

Temperatures of between 6 and 9 degrees are expected.

There is also a chance of thunder.

Showers will continue into the night with an ongoing risk of hail and thunder and sleet on high ground, with temperatures of between 0 to 3 degrees.

AA Roadwatch have warned motorists to reduce their speed and “leave a safe braking distance from the vehicle in front of you”.

Gardaí are currently dealing with a three-car crash on N11 northbound at J11 Greystones.

Traffic is heavy on approach.
