Procedures cancelled at Waterford hospital over water issues
University Hospital Waterford has been forced to cancel all elective procedures planned for today due to issues with its water supply.
According to RTE the issue arose after a depletion of water supply levels over the weekend due to a technical fault following a lightning strike at pumps in a local reservoir.
This means the water quantity supplied to the hospital is not at the required quantity or quality.
In a statement the hospital said:
“Arising from difficulties experienced in the public water supply from one of Waterford’s reservoirs, University Hospital Waterford as a precautionary measure, is postponing elective procedures for a period of 24 hours, The situation will be monitored closely on an ongoing basis.”
