While, we may be a small island, one thing Ireland isn’t short on, is talented entrepreneurs. From spotting gaps in the beauty world to making the most of our traditional fare, Irish entrepreneurs are making their mark around the world. We’ve rounded up just a taste of some of our Irish success stories whose creations are taking their industries by storm.



Holos Skincare is the creation of Wexford based Holistic Therapist Niamh Hogan who saw how essential oils enriched the lives of her clients and wanted to encourage people to use them more in everyday life. Holos is plant based aromatherapy skincare to give you healthy vibrant skin and a lot of feel good. “It’s like a comfort blanket to the senses and velvet to the skin” says Niamh. Keogh’s Farm, creators of Ireland’s fastest growing crisp brand, are the only on-farm producers of hand cooked artisan potato crisps in Ireland. The family-run business which is based in North Co. Dublin, amidst the fields on which their family has farmed for over 200 years, has won two Great Taste awards this year, launched two new Multipack varieties and will make a further addition to their product line later this year. In 2010 a West Cork food manufacturing company decided to take their talents to the retail sector and created a range of fresh zesty sauces called Insanely Good. Tom and Denis decided to take their knowledge and expertise in food to the market and give Irish consumers something fresh, tasty and real, with quality ingredients straight from the source. Thus, Insanely Good was born! Ballymaloe Foods was established in 1990 by Yasmin Hyde, who recognised the popularity and versatility of a tomato relish made by her Mother, Myrtle Allen in the restaurant of Ballymaloe House situated in East Cork. Yasmin developed her food business around the flagship product of Ballymaloe Original Relish, gradually growing the range to include a variety of other sauces, including a Ballymaloe Pasta Sauce range, Ballymaloe Diced Irish Beetroot and the newest addition, Ballymaloe Steak Sauce with Dungarvan Irish Stout. The sweet taste of success. O’Donnells continues to show double digit growth year on year since the brand was launched in 2010 by 7th generation Tipperary farmer Ed O’Donnell. The company has five varieties in its hand-cooked, gluten-free crisp range, and uses local ingredients. Two O’Donnells flavours – Mature Irish Cheddar and Red Onion and Irish Cider Vinegar and Sea Salt – recently scooped Great Taste awards, which are considered to be amongst the most prestigious blind tasting awards. Entrepreneur Úna Tynan, previously a secondary level teacher and Academic Manager at a Dublin college created Blank Canvas Cosmetics with the aim to bring an affordable beauty brand to market without compromising on quality. Úna, launched Blank Canvas via a self deisgned and managed website in October 2011 with 12 products in the range. This has grown to over 90 products in the past 5 years with the award winning Pippa and Master Palettes launching in 2014. The Aurora Band Night Roller began when Dublin hairdresser Lindsey Byrne, owner of The Colour Room in Artane, saw a gap in the market for a product that took all the time and hassle out of creating the perfect head of curls without applying any heat to the hair whatsoever. Lindsey and business partner Alex Purcell received an investment from RTÉ’s Dragon’s Den in 2014 and the product is now stocked in Boots UK and Ireland, as well as pharmacies nationwide. Web:
