RSVP’s One to Watch: Sarah Farrell

In this weeks One to Watch, RSVP’s Mikie O’Loughlin chats to model Sarah Farrell ahead of the UCD Fashion Show.

Tell us about yourself

My name is Sarah and I’m nineteen. I’m from Wexford and I’m in my first year of Structural Engineering with Architecture in UCD. I come from a really big, close knit family so making the move up to Dublin was quite a change but I’m loving every minute of it. I love meeting new people so taking part in UCD Fashion Show has given the me an extra opportunity to meet new people outside my course.

How you did you get involved with modelling for the show?

I went to a couple of auditions in order to be chosen for the show. I was pretty nervous at the first audition because I had never auditioned for anything before but everyone on the committee was super friendly so that really put me at ease.

What are you looking forward to on the night?

Right now I’m most looking forward to seeing what I’ll be wearing for the show. As well as that I’m excited for the actual shows themselves and the buzz that will be backstage with everyone I’ve made friends with in the show.

Have you any experience with modelling?

I’ve done a few small bootcamps. Last year I went to one of Andrea Roche’s bootcamps and it was really a great experience. We got our make up done, Laura O’Shea taught us how to strut our stuff, we took some pictures with Evan Doherty, and also got to meet Rosanna Davison and Lorna Weightman.

How are rehearsals going?

Rehearsals are going great! They’re always lots of fun, especially now that everyone has become friendly with each other . Plus we have an amazing choreographer, Elise Brennan, so that helps a lot.

What are you other hobbies and interests?

My other hobbies are mainly Gaelic Football and socialising with my friends. I took a break from football last year for the first time since I was five so I’m really glad to be back playing this year.

What is the best advice you have received?

I think the best advice I’ve received is just to stop worrying about what others think and be confident in yourself. I’m over six foot, so for a girl that’s pretty tall. I used to be really quite conscious about my height but with age as well as anything I’ve learned to love my height and forget about what others think.

Who are your biggest style icons?

My biggest style icons would have to be Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevigne. I love their laid back street styles and am always waiting to see what their next looks are.

Where you like to shop?

My favourite shops are Topshop and H&M. They are really affordable, even on a student budget, and always have the latest trends.

Have you picked up any make up tips?

I like to follow all the top make up artists on social media so I always pick up tips from them. One thing I’ve learned in the last few years is how to properly contour and I have finally conquered the perfect winged eyeliner. In college I usually leave my makeup quite simple and try to recreate the shimmering, simple makeup that Gigi Hadid regularly rocks.

What is the big plan after life in UCD?

I hope to gain a Masters Degree in my course in a few years and hopefully travels the world after that. In an ideal world I’d love to make a career out of modelling. My ultimate dream, as well as every other girl my age, would be to become a Victoria’s Secret Model. But for now I’m more than happy with UCD Fashion Show!

The UCD Fashion show takes place February 25 and 26 in the Astra Hall, UCD
