The Heartbreaking Note Left by Tragic Pensioner after Brother Died
The heartbreaking note that a tragic pensioner left after his brother died said that he “didn’t know what to do.”
The bodies of the two elderly bachelors were discovered by gardai early on Tuesday morning in their Dublin home.
William McCarthy and his brother Daniel were both deaf and communicated using sign language.
William, 76, had been a carer for 73-year-old Daniel, but he passed away several weeks ago at their house in Millrose Estate, Bluebell.
According to The Irish Mirror, vulnerable Daniel was unable to care for himself or raise the alarm and he died from neglect sometime between last Friday and Monday.
It is believed a note was found at the scene where Daniel had written that his brother was “very sick” and he didn’t know how to help.
It is thought Daniel wrote: “I don’t know what to do.”
The Irish Mirror reports that Daniel was last seen on his 73rd birthday on Friday in the estate where they had lived for more than 26 years.
Postmortems took place yesterday and gardai have said no criminal investigation will be held into the “tragic incident.”
Locals described the brothers as “gentlemen.”
