There’s Huge Controversy Over The Gigi And Zayn Vouge Cover
Yesterday everyone was talking about Vogue Magazine after it released its August issue featuring pop culture power couple Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik on the front cover.
And while the cover is winning praise for its beauty and precision, it’s the article inside the magazine which has been the target of some SERIOUS criticism.
And it’s for one main reason as the headline reads:
”Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik Are Part of a New Generation Embracing Gender Fluidity”.
This so-called ‘gender fluidity’ seems to only be connected to the piece in the article where the couple talk about sharing each other’s clothes, and that’s it.
”I shop in your closet all the time, don’t I?” Hadid, 22, flicks a lock of dyed-green hair out of her boyfriend’s eyes as she poses the question.
“Yeah, but same,” replies Malik, 24. “What was that T-shirt I borrowed the other day?” “The Anna Sui?” asks Hadid.
”Yeah,” Malik says. “I like that shirt. And if it’s tight on me, so what? It doesn’t matter if it was made for a girl.”
Hadid nods vigorously. “Totally. It’s not about gender. It’s about, like, shapes. And what feels good on you that day. And anyway, it’s fun to experiment. . . .”
It was quickly pointed out that gender fluid is about not identifying as having a fixed gender, not sharing your other half’s clothes.
And Twitter completely blew up with negative comments: ‘‘doesn’t vogue think non binary/gender fluid people would have been great to talk to abt gender fluidity? not gigi hadid and zayn malik?”
”being genderfluid is a identity not a fucking fashion trend” wrote another.
We can see their point!
