Tributes paid to young Irishman shot dead outside Canadian nightclub

A dad has paid an emotional tribute to his son who was shot dead in Canada.

Irishman Tyler McLean, aged 25, died alongside pal Amir Jamal after an altercation outside a nightclub in Toronto on October 1st, Belfast Live report

He had been due to travel home to start a new job in his father’s business in Newry, Co Down the following day.

Two men have been reportedly charged with second-degree murder.

Tyler’s father, Hugh, runs Eversafe Technologies in Newry where Tyler was due to take up a role.

He told the Irish News: “He was a wonderful fella. So kind and caring.

“We are devastated. We went to Toronto and we had a memorial service for Tyler on Saturday and over 400 friends of his and relatives came and it was a great service.”

“He was a great son and a great brother. We are shocked and just distraught. We thought Toronto was a safe city.”
